Hello! My name is John Herbert R. Yncierto, born on March 30 on the year 2005. Born into the cusp of a new age of technology, allowing pop culture to spread like wildfire though the use of gadgets and gizmos like cellphones and the internet. I am an avid comic book or manga fan, so I was glad to find that the Philippines has its own good comics like Tresse. I also enjoy PH music such as 'Raining in Manila' by Lola Amour, or EraserHead's 'Ang Huling El Bimbo'. Recently I am also more interested in PH movies, especially when they adopt more global tropes like this year's zombie PH movie 'Outside'. There are also many Filipinos taking to the gaming / content creation scene like eSports teams and Youtubers. In the past I watched popular Teleseryes like 'Ang Probinsyano' while sometimes checking in with new and old shows.

Another medium of Philippine pop culture that I would like to be more interested in is the artistic side, such as digital paintings, traditional paintings, or some photography. Growing up I was not very engaged in viewing and appreciating fine arts, let alone ones inspired by the Philippines. However, not that I've matured some, I find myself admiring art and even wanting to pursue a hobby in drawing, with pen and paper and digital. With this I can relate more to artists and can observe the techniques and styles of Filipino artists to inspire my works. A modern example is Rob Cham with his simple comic book style, and classic painter Fernando Armosolo's great use of lighting and landscapes.

Viewers can then ascertain meanings, literal or abstract, that can influence their way of thinking. Art like that can then inspire changes in younger generations, creating social transformations, personal reflections, and new trends.

Artworks such as Armosolo's and his use of lighting bring back a life like view of rural Filipino life. This creates a feeling of nostalgia or a desire for a peaceful era. His artworks, and many more from other artists highlight the beauty and appeal of Filipino culture. These classic Philippine landscapes inspire Filipino pride, which in turn promote societal changes in preserving traditional Philippine culture, especially art techniques. This aligns with the Agenda Setting theory, with Armosolo's art setting the agenda that classic art techniques and Filipino heritage are worth preserving and to make a change in modernization to keep with tradition.
