Music Shareholder

In this chapter, it talk about how we can become cognitive shareholder in the music. The simplest way is by liking it a lot or loving it, singing it, playing it with any instrument or by dancing to it in any way. It is not only a way of buying, owning, and arranging music-related objects and experiences in one’s life, but also a distinct way of listening.
I think it’s an upside-down understanding of what music is for. But I also think it deserves respect for coming out of authentic human emotions: anxiety, sentimentality, infatuation, identification. It’s different in spirit from the other kinds of listening discussed in this book: a vertical sensibility, following a single line through time, instead of horizontal, finding common points of reference across style and history. It might not increase anyone’s listening flexibility in the short run. But it does quicken your attention for the long audition, and adds another dimension to listening. You are listening to hear life lived. You are listening to hear aging.

This artists that I have a relationship with is mostly pop singers. For example , Adele she would be my number one who I have most relationship with. I like all the songs that she made. She a soul pop singer. She always sing her with her internal sympathy and she makes the song listeners to listen to it again. I cultivate this relationship with her by singing her song or playing it in instrument, sometime I dance to it. Mostly her song is sad song or heart broken song as people said. I like her song not because I had experience like her but the melody and the lyrics that she has in her songs just match with my taste and her voice is so amazing to attract the listeners.
