V2V communication is shorted for vehicle – to – vehicle communication which is a system enabling wireless exchange of information such as their speed, location or direction among vehicles. There are 3 functions of V2V communication. Firstly, it can create a 360-degree awareness of surrounding vehicles. Secondly, it helps identify potential crash threats as they arise. Then, it sends warnings in order to help drivers avoid crashes. These V2V communication messages have a range of over 300 meters.

In terms of advantages, V2V communication improves current available crash avoidance systems using radars and cameras. It does not allow driver or vehicle identification and tracking to ensure information security. However, this system also has some disadvantages. It is easy to be hacked because it exchanges information through wireless platforms. Additionally, in-car malfunctioning may lead to incorrect data and false warnings, which likely affects the driver's decision.

Overall, V2V communication has a lot of potential benefits such as improved safety, reduced traffic congestion and enhanced efficiency
