As Vice-Principal he successfully served two years in an inner-city middle school for Sacramento City Unified School District. He then went back to his hometown of Colusa, California, and served two years as Vice-Principal. His responsibilities were improving attendance reducing suspensions/expulsions, dealing with discipline, and reduction of gang-related activity with success. He then served as the principal of several schools throughout Salinas, California, and Portland, Oregon, over the course of more than a decade, implementing school-wide reform at four sites. Between 2005 and 2015 he gained experience as a director of K-12 Pupil Services with the Woodland Joint Unified School District; then, as director of English Learner services and Student Services via the Yolo County Office of Education in Woodland, California. In 2016, Edgar Lampkin became the superintendent of a California school district. His achievements in this role have ranged from securing a $3.8 million grant to implement elementary school reform through the development and implementation of numerous student achievement strategies. He also secured and successfully spent a 13.8 million Bond to improve school facilities for the district, resulting in the modernization of a high school gym, five new Kinder classrooms, a new elementary playground, parking lot, and multipurpose building for 900 students. Dr. Lampkin holds an educational doctorate in the field of International Multicultural Education from the University of San Francisco and a Master of Arts in educational administration from California State University (CSU), Sacramento. He also earned a Bachelor of Arts in Liberal Studies with a Bilingual Emphasis from CSU, Chico.
