Flower Darby suggested "Happy Hour", "Coffee Breaks", "Afternoon Tea" or "Consultations" (page 119-120). I am wondering if I could use some 'early childhood terminology' for my office hours?

One idea (page 19) that I implemented this semester was to have my students reflect on each aspect of our Student Teacher Evaluative Rubric. This document is HUGE and it can be very overwhelming for students when they look at the rubric as a whole. By taking it apart and having the students reflect on one section at a time, using examples from their practicums, solidified their understanding of the objectives. I am looking forward to our Final Conferences next week to find out if I notice a difference in the students!

Probably one of the most profound parts of this book for me was chapter six. "Students need more than effort to succeed. They need a teacher who has created opportunities for them to try new strategies and seek input." (p. 135) I always tell my colleagues, students do not sign up for your courses hoping to fail. Seek out the reasons for why they struggle and help how you can.
