The last thing that motivated me was the DNC on Television. It motivated me because there were so many great speeches presented by famous politicians and celebrities like Oprah, the Clintons, the Obamas, and others. The speeches were well crafted and persuasive.

Hello colleagues! My name is Mickey Jack and I am the Assistant Vice President for Academic Affairs here at OCCC. Prior to working for OCCC, I worked at Murray State College where I was the Division Chair for Business and Professional Studies, Director of Special Projects & Program Development, and Grants Coordinator. In the past I taught various business courses, but my favorite course to teach was Professional Development! I will be teaching my first course for OCCC this fall and I am very excited to have more interaction with our amazing students.

For Fun: I am always searching for motivational quotes or watching reels on Facebook (yes, I am old) that inspire me. I recently saw a post where this amazing young lady said, "Never let someone's negative opinion of you dictate your opinion of yourself." These are the messages I love to share with students as we all experience doubt in our lives!

OCCC is my fourth job! I teach at Canadian Valley Technology Center (Instructional Literacy Coach), I adjunct for Redlands, and I tutor elementary kiddos in reading. This is the start of my second year as teaching online as an adjunct. I'm loving OCCC so far. :)

Something Motivational:

For Fun: The last book I read that motivated me was Literacy Changemakers! I highly recommend it! I flew through the book this summer, and I plan to implement what I've learned throughout the year.

Halito (Hello)! This is my first semester of online teaching at OCCC for the Success in College and Life course. I've never taught a class; however, I have over ten years of experience in education and social service settings, such as nonprofits, public and charter schools, and State and Tribal Governments. I have held different positions working with children, adults, and families from diverse backgrounds in after-school/summer programs, student activities, child welfare, parent programs, and higher education. I recently graduated from Oklahoma State University in May with an MS in Educational Leadership Studies, specializing in College Student Development. I'm excited about this new adventure!

I’m also a video game nerd and sharing a picture from when I went to Dreamhack Dallas in May!

I'm Don. I recently moved back to OKC after many years in Texas and Kansas. I semi-retired from a full time position in Texas as an associate professor of English after the Spring 2024 semester, but decided I wanted to keep teaching as an adjuct and was lucky enough to get some Composition I and Compostion II classes at OCCC for Fall 2024. I am doing both face-to-face and online sections.

I'm divorced, have one son that lives in Moore, OK, and enjoy living in the mid-town district of OKC where there are loads of great restuarants and live music opportunities that I can walk to!

My name is Harley Martin and I teach History courses here at OCCC. I have been teaching history and government courses for about five years now, mainly at my full-time college, Carl Albert. Before I taught at the collegiate level, I taught special education for 3 years. It was the hardest, yet most rewarding job I have ever had! Although I was put through the wringer sometimes, I still miss it. I look forward to my time here at OCCC!

For Fun: Something that recently motivated to learn more about history was a podcast I was listening to. The host mentioned Eliot Ness, and I couldn't quite place his name. Then it hit me, Al Capone! So, it didn't quite motivate me to teach, but did motivate me to find a book about Elliot Ness and learn about his impact on history. It would be a fun little side story to mention in my history and government courses!
