         <description><![CDATA[<div>Whangarei has experienced a population increase of 1,200 in the last two years, which has been the biggest in over 20 years, and 45% of those have come from overseas (Whangarei District Council, 2016).<br><br>The statistics from Whangarei District Council (2016) also highlight that there are people leaving Whangarei and most of them (76%) are people born in New Zealand.
