Funny Obituary for an Object Using Puns

Recently, our class has been learning figurative language, what they are and how to use them. In this "obituary", I got to choose an object and write about how they "died" and about their lives using puns. It was quite hard to think of many, but I eventually completed it. I must say, I am very proud of it and how funny it is.

The best thing I read this year was "Nightfall" by Shannon Messenger because of all the action and drama inside this book. "Nightfall" is the sixth book of the Keeper of the Lost Cities series. I have loved this series since fourth grade and still read it.

I am most proud of being able to present anything in front of a large group of people. Before seventh grade, I would always freeze up while up in the front. Now that I am not as shy as I was in elementary, I can speak in front of a class, and with emotion and hand motions too.

Socratic Seminar

Socratic Seminar is like a debate in our class. Everyone sits in a circle and before this activity, we have to research about a topic that was given to us. Some of us disagree with each other and others agree on the same thing. Some of the topics we talked about was, what the main theme was in the book, "a Christmas Carol,' by Charles Dickens, and the message of, "The Watsons go to Birmingham 1963," by Christopher Paul Curtis. This experience really made me more excited about sharing my opinions. It is actually very fun to argue with others and prove that your point is correct. All in all, I enjoy Socratic Seminars and hope we get to enjoy more.
