We all know that climate change and the large amount of contamination is a big problem for our planet and also for us. This happens because we are excessive consumers of plastic and we have the deficient habit of throwing our rubbish into the oceans, rivers and landscapes. Fortunately, we are starting to be aware about this problem, and we are acting slowly but surely. For example, we have made a project at school, with the aim of raising awareness within all the kids and the people surrounding us.

Last month, I went on a walk with my mother. First, we took our bicycles and we went to the pear. We walked through it and we collected some ropes and plastic bottles. After that, we cycled through the beautiful promenade next to the rocks and the sea, and we finally arrived at Saturraran, a beach that is in front of the beach of our town. It’s a savage place, surrounded by nature, with a lot of big rocks, trees, flowers… So there we collected more rubbish and also natural things. Fortunately, there was very little waste. That’s obviously a good sign, because it helps us to convince ourselves that there are still possibilities to reduce the amount of plastic in our oceans in order to save them.

Then, I went home, and I selected the materials I was going to use and I also used some resources that I had at home, like: Glue, glitter, scissors… Although there were a lot of materials, the main one was one of the plastic bottles I took on the beach. I painted the bottle , then I stuck 4 bottle stoppers to it, and finally I decorated it with some decorative accessories.

After spending two weeks thinking about my final work, I wasn’t sure what I wanted to do, but I finally decided to make a piggy bank. With the waste already collected and some extra materials, I started my project. I have also realized how easy and nice it can be to make use of the debris that surrounds us. The final part of going to Zaldupe has also been amazing, because we have made children aware of the global catastrophic situation we are living in nowadays.
