Honestly, it was very disheartening when we learned of the plans to return back 100% with the virtual option. It felt forced and not in the best interest of children or teachers and staff. One thing that would benefit my team is a document outlining those things that are “tight,” so we can design our “loose” in a manner that is comprehensive, thorough, and supportive. Lastly, since there have been so many changes, it would be advantageous to me and probably others if we had a “this is where we are now” document outlining current plans, dates, and expectations to ensure full clarity and no missed steps. We are ready!

Simone Chambers]]> 2020-07-24 16:48:21 UTC https://padlet.com/msheppard34/nf7c44hnl3q9nov9/wish/661971598 My Thoughts At This Moment https://padlet.com/msheppard34/nf7c44hnl3q9nov9/wish/661989556 I am grateful that I work for a district that can lead with both its head and hear.  Sometimes the hardest thing and right thing are the same.  In this case, our plan for return captures both our desire to use the data to inform our decisions around safety and our desire to provide academic instruction to our students that need it the most.  We are on the right track with this cyclical model that will allow of the flexibility to come back to in person instruction in a manner that is good for our students, staff and community at large.  Now it becomes the responsibility of building leadership and teachers to make this remote instruction engaging and rigorous so our students can be college/career ready. We can make that happen.

I am very optimistic that we can take all that we learned from fourth quarter of last year and use it to create a virtual program that is effective.  The program needs to  be comprehensive enough to  reach  all student, but more importantly be robust to teach all students.  
The partnerships with LINC and BGC will also help us to provide some support to the working families in our communities.
