Being able to genetically modify parts of nature is very time saving and convenient. With modification, we're able to produce larger and higher quality food and goods with less expense and less effort. Humans are able to create different foods to fit their wants and needs. This can be beneficial because farmers would be able to efficiently grow their crops without having to worry about them being eaten by bugs or insects. That way, children who live in places that wouldn't necessarily have access to vaccines would be able to eat this fruit and be protected from harmful diseases. This is incredibly important because this way, more people will be protected from possibly life-threatening diseases by just eating a banana. Genetically modified fruits and vegetables with vaccines in it will help stop the spread of infectious diseases that could be dangerous. A concern that was brought up in the article was that there isn't really any way to prevent genetically modified organisms from mixing with naturally existing populations. This can create major issues with the reproduction process and can mess up the species. When farmers begin to grow genetically modified goods, they stop growing the old varieties of foods. People who have allergies might not be aware that certain foods include items that they may be allergic to. Old varieties of crops and goods are very important sources of genes that give plants characteristics that are beneficial or desirable. Currently, there are no laws in place in the United States that require companies to label their products that contain genetically modified ingredients in them. Genetically modified organisms and goods are made in a lab, with heavy equipment and many scientists. It may seem that modifying certain foods to be the way we want them to be wouldn't have any risks, but it certainly does. Every single plant and every single animal has been created for a reason. Each species plays an important role in how the world thrives. Messing up this cycle could potentially change how our world functions, and maybe for the worse.
