For example, students have the autonomy to be responsible for their learning. Whether it is through speaking about their choice, the goals they have attained and/or the goals they need to succeed to master the common core aligned Standards. Students refer to their success criteria to make sure they are meeting the standards.
 The skills in which students need to possess are interpersonal skills, as well as showing accountability for their learning. Collaborating and communicating are skills they need to possess in all communities but especially in the digital world. Students are being asked to be creative throughout the day, in every subject. Students are also pushing their thinking, by creating their own tasks for learning intentions. Sometimes when I assign a task, I just tell students that they need to meet the learning intention and that they can choose the product that they create. Students are working both on their own and with others by collaborating, discussing, and giving positive and effective feedback. Students are given the opportunity to speak and share throughout the day. Students also assess both themselves and others in all subjects and can speak to their learning strengths and weaknesses. Students are also given choice; whether it be with the partner they work with or the task they complete. Students are always challenging each others thinking by asking each other deeper questions.
