Maya did some handy-work as a bike mechanic for Hub ‘n’ Spoke Harlow and she reviewed and updated their Facebook page as administrator in order to gain some extra experience outside of college. Originally she was just supposed to update their Facebook page but after a while watching her colleagues taking apart bikes egged her on her to join in in other parts of the workshop at Bush Fair.

Maya’s all set for university planning to move to Sedley Court in Cambridge and study a degree in Film Studies so that she can go onto review films for popular websites. Before she leaves, Maya’s turning twenty-one, so she wants to travel to New South Wales in Australia or Tel Aviv in Israel to see family before she really knuckles down. She hasn’t seen them for at least five years so taking a mini-break in-between is well deserved.

There are a lot of words you can say about Emma Parish, she’s hardworking, fun to be around and a good friend to have. Emma is a very bubbly and confident girl which makes her very easy to talk to. 

She’s an aspiring magazine journalist who loves fashion and hopes to work within the magazine industry some day. Emma’s favourite person ever (apart from Chloe Johnson) is Beyonce, who is Emma’s biggest fashion inspiration. She also enjoys her music and hopes to buy tickets when Beyonce next visits the UK, as she loved seeing her at V festival last

year.

She has a few Merits and mostlyDistinctions for all of her units which she has worked very hard for, she always makes sure she meets deadlines and her work is always organised. Emma is very laid back she never gets stressed over anything and just takes each day as it comes, which is very likeable.

Outside of the classroom I have never known anyone to eat so healthy, every lunch she would eat brown bread sandwiches and fruit. I would love to treat her to a McDonalds some day. Outside of college Emma likes to meet up with friends and have a few harmless glasses of Pino, she also enjoys quiet nights in and going to the cinema when she isn’t working at the Card Factory.

Emma will definitely achieve her plans for the NCTJ course and her other dreams for the future. As she has proved in this course that if she wants something, she’ll work hard and makes sure she gets it.

Though most will know her for her photography Ceide also has a passion for broadcast journalism and has noted several times in the past that she would love to work for MTV, which is only fitting for her party girl lifestyle.

Ceide is always putting others before herself, staying late in class and giving up her time to help friends in class even when she has her own work to do. She is one of the most selfless and loyal girls about, and people are lucky to have her as a friend.

Starting off as the shy student, Ceide came

out of her shell after the famous love affair between her and he who shall not be named (for legal reasons). There was not one student or tutor that did not know of this incident, but what is a class without a class romance.

She is now taking the next step to becoming a broadcast journalism

student at Brighton University. Where she will learn the skills needed to gain access to her dream career as well as grow further continuing to prove everyone that she is a serious contender.

When she is not in class Emily likes to immerse herself in the latest reality TV shows and daily dosage of Eastenders, its safe to say she likes a bit of drama.  She describes her love of music as a form of escapism and a way to relaxat the end of a hectic day.  She is easy to speak and too and makes friends comfortably. There is always something that she can find in common with another classmate whether that’s music, sport or movies.

After completion of the course Emily is looking to gain work experience in the summer with media companies to learn new skills in the working industry. She is also set to widen her knowledge of Journalism by studying the NCTJ course at Anglia Ruskin Harlow and hopefully move onto to further education in the PR or Marketing field.

Jordan Maxwell is destined for stand up, his quirky ways and unique characteristics can light up a room. Jordan has constantly shown a bright spark through the course that has gained him the affection of his classmates. He has shown an ability to integrate in new surroundings and apart from a slight shyness he has come into his own and has broken out of his shell, and now shows great confidence.

Jordan showed great communication skills

and creativity when he was leading his to team to success with his documentary “life of the bus driver”.  If Jordan Maxwell does not end up with his own TV show in the future the world would have been robbed of great entertainment. He would make an excellent presenter due to a larger than life personality. I hope to see more of Jordan’s YouTube reviews and to see his channel grow.

Jordan is a spontaneous character, but is

considering doing the NCTJ course or perhaps travelling and gaining an insight into different cultures.

When I think of Jordan I associate him andhis strong friendship with Harry, them two are always talking and laughing, the

two are inseparable, and when they are it is like Barry without Paul Chuckle.

When Jordan isn’t listening to David Bowie, he likes to dress like David Bowie. His face and his Mick Jagger legs can turn the darkest of rooms into a beacon of love.

James is a very individual person who likes to do his own thing and appears to live in his own world at times. A frequent daydreamer, very self-motivated, and a massive optimist James does tend to look on the bright side in tricky situations. James tends to have a chilled approach to work, which in other words means he gets nothing done, and leaves all his work until deadline day where he will then frantically scrape through. James was involved in making a very successful and professional looking documentary about a bus driver a piece of work that James takes a lot of pride in.

James’s twilight impressions are famous amongst the year two journalists and he never looks like he’s prepared for the day. WhenJames is not telling deadpan jokes, he likes to follow up his passions in life, such as impossibly optimistic spurs predictions and nights out that lead to a lot of embarrassing and disastrous memorabilia that will be forever remembered. A grumpy toddler who didn’t get his own way can only better James’s moodiness at times just ask his classmates. James augmentative inputs and sarcastic remarks will be missed when he’s studying History and Journalism at Kingston University in London.

He has constantly been a good friend and source of advice due to wisdom beyond his years. I will always remember his amazing ability to grow a beard quickly and his skills on Photoshop.

Liam has a good taste in music, films and games that have rubbed off on other people including Enter Shikari, Royal Republic and Max Raptor. Speaking from personal experience he is also a first class mosher even if I nearly squashed him by falling over in the pit. With the opportunity to meet Enter Shikari he got to interview them and even have a beer while having a chat.

His interest in music has improved the possibility of Liam wanting to specialise in music journalism in particular as a live reviewer. In a few years it is likely that we will see him writing regularly for the NME or Rolling Stone.

Liam has shown an abundance of confidence through the course, which has made him excel at many of the task, and he has over come a lot of hardships throughout his time on the course and where many would have quit he has persevered.

Many people can identify what a friendly and happy person Liam as they will regularly approach him for conversation, advice and an honest but kind opinion that will help them through hard times. He is also aided by a good sense of humour and string of catchphrases that would not be out of place in a situation comedy.

Sasha works hard to achieve her grades and is always the last person left in class, ensuring her work is completed to the best of her ability. This level of dedication is the sort that will steady her career path in this competitive industry.

Although, it is not just in the classroom that Sasha is so dedicated. Sasha is an extremely loving, friendly and caring friend with a heart of gold. She is a sociable and outgoing character who is always up for a laugh.

As a former drama student, Sasha really is a performer. There isn’t a shy bone in her body and she is always happy to put herself out there. Sasha leaves a lasting impression on you from the moment you first meet, making her extremely difficult to forget.  

Although she may be scared to take the next step and begin a new life in Surrey, there is no doubt that Sasha will put her all into whatever life throws at her.

After leaving college Laura is going on to study a degree in journalism at Anglia Ruskin University – Harlow, where she hopes to gain all the knowledge needed to start a career in both print and broadcast.

Though Laura is always seen to be working hard, there is also another side to her that is a witty and fun loving character, kind to her fellow classmates she will never refuse anyone help and has become famous in the journalism class for organizing almost everyone’s folders.

Outside of the classroom Laura loves to socialize, travelling to beautiful English destinations, wining and dining in the nicest of places, taking part in charity events such as race for life and next year the London Marathon and regularly attending gig, festivals and concerts.               

But above all Laura dedicates her spare time to her passion for film whether it be a trip to the cinema or watching at home from her vast collection of DVD’s, both classic and modern.  There really aren’t many (leonardo Di Caprio) films she has not seen.

In all honesty, he’s a great lad, just ask the college tutors and none of them would agree. He has an insane love of Oasis and The Stone Roses, but apart from a couple of bands from the 80’s and 90’s he pretty much hates everything from the North. He works on a building site whenever possible and has a worse attendance record than former Journalism student Alonso, but bare in mind that Alonso did move to Spain.

Also, have you noticed how much he looks like Jake Bugg? Like, seriously? Look at his picture! I’m not sure what it is, the hair for a start, and then maybe the depressed, stoner look?  They’re both an acquired taste, that’s for sure.

In regards to the future, Joey is short but his hopes are high. He is a very touchy-feely character, a trait that may one day lead to a prison sentence.

Over the past two years, Joey has become universally liked by the whole class and anyone that's met him at the college. To anyone that has had the pleasure to speak to Joey in college, they'll know he's a great lad, who's funny, kind and has a big heart.

After college, Joey plans to travel around Australia with a friend.

He seems to cause controversy at college, whether it’s his mature dress sense or his funky taste in music, nobody shares in his genius.

He certainly enjoys the finer things in life, whether it’s a BLT from Marks and Spencer or his turtleneck fleece, you wouldn’t see him in Chicken Hut with the boys.

In the words of, well the not so great, Joey Butcher “when he’s not in class, he like’s to indulge in Shinji Kagawa and his beloved dog.”

Now to the least interesting part in this piece of college work, the college work. He was somehow convinced to follow Craig Fantham around London in search of street fashion or as he described it ‘the movement’. He wears a dress.

Craig’s dictionary is hard to read, but it certainly isn’t English, could you define discombobulated? So as you guessed, a joy to work with.

In other news, Luke has explored every path in creative media production, anything but journalism of course. 

Luckily, he’s going to uni with the hope of studying journalism, good luck to him, he's going to need it.

People who know Omar often think he’s funny, with humorous outlooks on situations that life throws people’s way, as it does. A person who uses his initiative often in life, he’s never truly afraid of solving the problem by himself, thinking outside the box to get the solution, sometimes tackling the situation head on, sometimes opting for a more tactful way to get there.

During his time at Harlow College, he enjoyed the course very much, enlightened with new journalism knowledge, not to mention the new skills he’s learnt on the way, such as how to interview effectively, approach new and random people to ascertain new information, and how to make a story out of little snippets of information.

After Harlow College, Omar plans to enjoy some more of Harlow’s beautiful scenery by studying the NCTJ Diploma at Harlow College, a highly respected and sought after degree, known for giving people a giant helping of experience in the industry, but those adventures are yet to come.

Chloe Johnson has always had a strong passion for writing, and when she isn’t listening to R&B music, she is working hard to achieve personal aspirations.

Chloe’s other interest besides music is fashion, his is something that she was allowed to experiment with in the photography unit. For this unit Chloe photographed different types of shoes, and the end product was to make an advert for a well-known magazine. This is something she had great enjoyment doing.

Chloe always tries her hardest to meet all deadlines, and has a great relationship with many of her tutors, which often results in the staff commenting on her kind- hearted nature and contagious smile.

Outside the class room Chloe loves to catch up with her friends, over a glass of rose. Chloe’s charisma and bubbly personality is very infectious, and she always makes the best out of any situation. Chloe’s all time favourite rapper is Drake, and recently attended his concert at the O2. 

In the future Chloe plans to carry on pursing a career in journalism and hopes to study the NCTJ next year, but she isn’t just stopping there afterwards she hopes to land a job as a writer for a celeb magazine, and can’t wait to find out all the latest gossip about all her favourite celebrities.

Chloe’s personality isn’t one that is easily forgotten, and I am sure everyone that meets her would have to agree.

There is no doubt that her ambition will see her living out her dreams in the near future.

Her creativity shone through in her photography, when she created an advertisement for Lady Million perfume, leading her to discover a love for photography, which she pursued on a college trip to Spain. She continues doing photography outside of college.

Her bubbly personality and funny comments brighten the days of fellow students, and she isn’t shy to making her opinions acknowledged, making her a student who gets along well with everyone in the class.

After studying film studies on the course,

she unearthed an undeniable penchant for film and television and now aspires to become a successful writer for screen, across multiple genres.

The determination that Kassie holds to

perfect her work is enviable – she won’t stop working on something until it can be improved no more – and this enabled her to receive and unconditional offer from her university of choice, Anglia Ruskin Cambridge, to study Writing and Film Studies.

To begin with, Rory was seen as quiet and
shy, however these perceptions of him quickly changed when he began to come out
of his shell. He is approachable and friendly, always willing to offer a
helping hand wherever he can. The motivated and competitive side of Rory is the
key to his success.

Although, it is not just his hard working 
nature that makes him such a valued student. Known for his sarcasm and dry
sense of humor, Rory never fails to put a smile on your face. Because of his
perfectionist nature, Rory has been given the title ‘worrier’; so much so that
his classmate, Laura, will sing ‘Billy Ocean – When the Going Gets Tough, the
Tough Get Going’ to cheer him up.

Outside of the classroom, Rory enjoys
playing football, reading and of course, watching films. Rory likes to socialise
with friends from college, and although he started the course having known a
couple of people, he soon branched out and is now good friends with all of the
class.

As Rory embarks on his next step in life,
he will further his education at either Anglia Ruskin or Exeter University,
where he will study film studies. 
Although he is yet to decide which university to attend, he is certain
that his career lies in film.

Jade’s ambitions are to become a music journalist and her passion for this has been made clear through her music enthusiasm. She plays the drums, goes to plenty of concerts and has already managed to land herself a double page spread in Kerrang magazine interviewing her favourite rock star. She is ambitious and funny, and always wants to experience new things. So, while she is studying the one-year NCTJ course at University Centre Harlow she will be taking some time out to go backpacking around Europe with fellow classmate Sally. Although she is very laid back she isn’t a stranger to planning and perfectionism - there isn’t a piece of her work that isn’t perfectly aligned and she can spend copious lengths of time making everything seamless.

She plans to spend a considerable chunk of 2015 travelling; exploring Europe and Africa, and possibly Australia and Asia too, seeing and experiencing as much as possible. Aside from this adventure she loves to spend the summer time with her friends and enjoying good music, which is made apparent by her collection of festival wristbands.

Throughout the Journalism course, she found her creativity and excelled in the photography unit in which she created an advertisement for Dr Martens shoes. This is what led her on to deciding to study Advertising at University following her gap year.

Craig is a beacon of hope to all, his confidence and stature illuminates the classroom and workplace, his odd sense of vocabulary and hysterical banter echoes through the walls like a werewolf’s howl, his is a presence. With ambitions of becoming an actor and just recently been accepted into The National Youth Theatre of Great Britain and also with plans to attend university he is definitely on his way to greatness if he keeps his head…

Throughout his journey on the journalism course Craig has dwelled into deep moments of despair and madness but has also excelled and shown his mettle, with forming great bonds with fellow students and teachers but also in his work, from secondary school he was an angry, lost child but now 2 years down the line he has matured into a respectable young man who inspires others.

 He has a wide range of interests beyond sport however including his love of films, music and video games. If you need to speak to someone about Muse or the Star Wars trilogy David is the person for it. He also enjoys the Indiana Jones films but denies the existence of Kingdom of the Crystal Skull which frankly we all agree with. This sits next to a great knowledge of current affairs and the chance to have a highly charged political conversation.

One of David’s finest works is his documentary on the local venue the Square. This was a very enjoyable and informative documentary that features questionably the best use of the English language. In part of the narration David states that the square is a “Great place to hang out, play Pool and have a beer” Which has sparked off a flame of creativity from his friends with his own meme and various jokes, catchphrases and references.

As one of David’s closest friends I can tell you that he is a great person and is very easy to have a conversation with. When in his company you will spend most of your time laughing. David is also an amazing advice giver in fact after I was dumped he said to me “get over her and come to the pub so we can have a beer”

Always chopping and changing his mind on what to do, in ten years time you won't be able to tell where James will be as his mind changes too quick. Perhaps going to university one day, he prepares to embark on a new life and try and to move to his preferred place of London.
