From my point of view there are more advantages than disadvantages. It is true that pupils have to interrupt their classes so they can be completely involve in the internship, however, they do not lose their time they learn by practise, they are able to see which are the difficulties an employee has to face every day. From my point of view it is vital that pupils acquiere basic concepts but when they know them the best way to learn is to practise, to be involve in real life situations.

From my point of view is all benefits.
Pupils have the choices of study in professional course where when they finish it they will be able to get a real job.
They should choose between work or continuous studing, but at the end, they can do both study and work if they want.
I do not know professional courses for secondary students in Spain.

My school is a vocational training school and we have an array of companies that provide internships to our students. Some come completely satisfied, others not so much due to the lack of tutoring they had. WE work mainly with small companies bu we had a high success rate in getting our students employed by those companies.

Many benefits for students, perhaps not so much for companies! Until not a long time ago boys used to "go to shop", they were craftsmen's apprentices and they learned the job by working.
In Italy there is what is called "alternanza scuola lavoro -Alternation school work" for every kind of secondary school. I think this is very useful for students in vocational schools, but this sistem has to be perfected for gymnasium (=liceo), because in these case students are not enogh self-sufficient and have very little skills, so they can be more a burden than a resource for the company

One disadvantage that comes to my mind has to do with the way internship is developed. It can happen that students are considered by the company as “free workforce” and so they are not involved in interesting activities but confined to boring, routine tasks.

Advantages are countless, I studied in the USA, and I went for an internship when I back to Malaysia (Thanks). I learnt practical instead of just theory. The schools need to take care of children safety, everything is plan well. In the industrial, it is not always the case. For eg, Intern see senior working on a very high voltage (thousand of Watts), intern see IT senior working at a night shift to have minimum down time, etc.

In my humble opinion one advantage of internship is: gain real world experience because an internship that relates to your field of study can help you better understand and apply the theories you learn in the classroom by seeing those theories applied in the real world.

On the other hand, one disadvantage is that maybe internships cost an arm and a leg and many people can not afford it which is a pity

Although internship placement is a wonderfull initiative for secondary school, I think that in the middle school, where I teach, is not very welcome, especially because students are very young and it is preferable for them to continue studiyng for many years before going to work with the specialisation that the internship placement can offer. It is better for higher secondary school.

There is an obvious advantage on knowing about the real work world.
The second one is the stimulation, and motivation for pupil in knowing how companies work. It is specially positive for engineering careers, due to the difficulty of imagine what do they really do.
youngster need to be involved in the idea of studying for a good job, but also the passion of many jobs, which improve our lives.

I belive that is is very positive the internship placements because a part from getting experiences in some skills that the students have previous learned the students have contact with reality.

One benefit: The greatest benefit is to prove how my future job could be, and also how the things Iearn at the school are related to real life.
One disadvantage: A small one: if they are senior students probably should not spend time in other issues but studing, because they will have the compulsory test (EBAU) at the end of the school year.

I agree with most of my colleagues about the fact that there are many more advantages (hands-on learning, real world experience, access to early life autonomy), than disadvantages (possible loss of interest and early overload of work). But, all in all, it´s worth giving internship a try!

I consider they offer many more advantages than disadvantages:

- The student gains confidence in the face of his professional future.
- If the student is involved in the program, will be more involved too in his/her studies.
- Understands the obligations, requirements and rights as a worker so much better.
- Companies rely more on a student who has completed a program or internship of this type.
- Training times in companies are shortened when they count with people to work.

However, it must be considered that it requires economic investment, commitment and effort from all parties involved and this is not always feasible.

Obviously, there are many benefits. The pupils can see how it is the daily life in the profession; they can appreciate more things tan expected, or recognise some issues they haven’t thought of.

The worst disadvantage I can see, it would appear if the tutors weren’t interested on giving a good formation to the trainee, and they spent their time making photocopies or as a delivery boy.

The main advantage of the OGMA program is that at the end of the internship program for students, they have a fixed contract as professionals for several years. The disadvantage is that the student can exercise for a few years obligatorily in the scientific area that the company develops, although after the experience in the practices the student did not like that area.

In my opinion, interships are essential to complete the career training. This opportunity allows students to experiment first-hand the real work, being implicated in a business company and developing new skills, which can only be learned through practice.
Nevertheless, if the company don´t receive and integrates properly the student, not give him due training, or the job isn´t in accordance with his academic training, this experience won´t be instructive and will give him a bad vision about the world of work.
