My Theory Explained

My theory of nursing is that nurses must use the environment and the people in the patient's lives to the advantage of the patient's care. The patient's care should be both psychological and physical because these are the main components to a patient's health. To encourage good mental and physical health, the nurse must nurture the patient. This could be by making the environment more conducive to healing, by removing friends and family from the patient's bedside if the patient states they are uncomfortable (be a patient advocate always), or as is often necessary, giving the patient medication to aid their healing (like a gardener laying down special soil to help the tree grow). In my eyes, the nurse will always be the nurturer and must use all aspects in the patient's life to bring them healing and growth.
