Although Wu did not become a teacher, she is still living a dream as a mother. Wu did not expect to have these many kids, but she is so grateful to have them. She believes that America is a land of opportunity, but race, sexuality, and gender may sadly affect these opportunities. A piece of advice that Wu's grandmother told her is to never let anyone step on you along the way, and she followed exactly as her grandmother told her to. A piece of advice she would recommend is to accommodate yourself with the right group of people, as they can influence you to become a better person. She came to make her dreams of becoming a singer come true. She felt nervous, she felt out of place because everywhere she looked, she saw people that were better than her. She thought about leaving California to go back to her hometown, but she gathered her courage and continued to pursue her dreams. She soon did become what she wanted to become, she then felt at peace. A lyrics states, "I hopped off the plane at L.A.X. With a dream and my cardigan Welcome to the land of fame excess (whoa) Am I gonna fit in?", this shows how people come to America with little to nothing, all they have is their dreams. They have to stay positive in order to achieve their American Dream. Another lyrics also states, "So I put my hands up They're playing my song The butterflies fly away I'm noddin' my head like yeah Movin' my hips like yeah I got my hands up They're playin' my song I know I'm gonna be OK Yeah, it's a party in the USA". This shows how a person feels once they finally achieve their American Dream. It is one of the best feelings a person could ever feel when they left their home country in order to make their dreams come true. Determination and a strong work ethic will be rewarding.
