Spain is full of quirks, but one of the odd facts about Spain is that its national anthem has no words. 
The Marcha Real is one of only four national anthems in the world with no lyrics (well, it used to have lyrics but no one uses them anymore). It’s also one of the oldest national anthems in the world
2) It Hosts the World’s Biggest Tomato Fight
Every year they have a massive tomato fight in Bunol. 
The festival has been going since 1945 when a young man flew into a fit of rage and started throwing tomatoes at his friends – more people joined in, and so a tradition was born.
Authorities banned the festivities in the fifties but it was restored in 1957 after the residents held a mock funeral with a tomato in a coffin to mourn their much-loved festivity.
3) Spain is Full of Quirky Traditions
There’s a tradition that you should eat 12 grapes as the clock rings in the new year. The idea is that you eat a grape on each stroke of midnight – if you manage to do it, you’ll have good luck for the new year.

The rejection of 'Djonatan,' which is the phonetic spelling of Jonathan, as well as 'J' as a child's fourth name, is based on the risk of being misunderstood and improperly pronounced in German. There are also some names that you are not permitted to give your children.
2)They Have Four National Languages.
Their four national languages are French (20.4%), German (64%), Italian (6.5%), and Romansh (just a little over 1%). So you can feel comfortable as a foreign visitor or resident since it’s perfectly acceptable to not understand what someone says to you because the Swiss don’t understand the Swiss anyway.
3) Switzerland does not have an official capital city.
This is a surprising fact about Switzerland, but contrary to most people’s belief, Bern is not the capital of Switzerland. It might sound crazy, but Switzerland doesn’t have an official capital though the federal government is located in Bern.
Geneva and Zuch are popularly believed to be the capital as well, but none of them can claim capital status, although they are famous for one reason or another.

German used to have a word in the dictionary that was: Rindfleischetikettierungsüberwachung- saufgabenübertragungsgesetz. Yes, they officially decided to drop it from the German Dictionary for being impractical (we might agree!). If you’re wondering what it meant, the word translates to ‘the law concerning the delegation of duties for the supervision of cattle marking and the labelling of beef’.

Perhaps one of the most famous European words is the place in Wales called Llanfairpwllgwyngyllgogerych- wyrndrobwllllantysiliogogogoch. It’s a lovely village in the North West of Wales and the longest town name in the UK.
