The mood, as we dive deeper into the book, the mood seems very racist. The tone, however, reflects Harper Lees thoughts about the book. An example of this is when Scout goes on a rant inside her head about racism. This is a small tidbit of information that lets us see into the mind of the author. We see that she is quite disgusted by this racism, and she is very serious about this.
