*If your specials is ending or beginning during your drill, please be in that specials area to help and/or get your students as needed. No time is great and we hope that all we ever have to do is a drill.

Reminders of drills:

EVERYDAY- make sure your doors are locked. If you do not have a magnetic strip for your door, let the office know. During drills, remove the magnetic strip and shut the door so it locks. This allows us to know the room is empty.

Shelter in Place -Everyone inside the building with normal movement in and out of classrooms- NO ONE is allowed outside and office doors are locked to outside guests.

Fire- Exit the building in a safe, orderly manner. Be sure you have a class list and your emergency folder with the colored papers. Hold up green if you have all students, yellow if missing students but you know what teacher they are with, and red if you are missing students and don't know where they are.

Tornado- students get to proper area shown on emergency map and crouch down on their knees with hands over head.

Intruder on Campus- Shut and lock door. Everyone gets to an area of the classroom in which they can not be seen from classroom interior windows. Outside window shades are closed Have students sit quietly.

Chase Morris CPR Drill- A person will come over the intercom alerting the need for CPR help and in what location. Those that are trained in CPR will respond to that location. Nurse Stephens will let you know if you are on that CPR response team.

With the prediction of VERY cold and wintery weather coming in on Tuesday am, we will need to distribute our Chromebooks. 

When: Monday 2/17/25

Time: 11am-1pm

Where: CE Main east side office

Parking: PLEASE park in a parking spot in front of the building or in our big lot. Do not park in front of school along the fire lane. 

Since weather is unpredictable, we do not know if we will be out or not. This decision will be made by the district as soon as they are able to make it.  Please have students bring their computers and chargers to school on Tuesday (and after) if we are in school. Computers are essential at school too so as soon as we get back to school (IF we miss) please bring computers back to school. 

Please remember these computers are only passed out to those families that have already requested them. 

You will get very specific directions from your teacher if we move to distance learning the morning of distance learning (once it is called).

Sight Word Book Instructions

1. Access your Google Meet the way you've directed your students: Google Classroom post, Canvas, Nickname. This way you will see that it should work for them.  Any of the above methods will prevent students from joining before you are on the call. DO NOT share Google Meet Links with Students via Google Calendar Invites as this opens the opportunity for private video calls between students.

2. You can now only join Google Meets from one device at a time. You cannot have Google Meet on your iPad while you have it on a laptop or Chromebook as well.

3. Explore the features before joining the call with your students for the first time. Video Link to Navigating Google Meet (not iPad). You can mute everyone and limit their chats and cameras. You cannot force students to unmute or turn on cameras for students remotely; this is for privacy reasons. If you remove someone from a Meet twice, they cannot rejoin for 24 hours. Here is the iPad Google Meet Paper Tutorial if you are choosing to use your iPad as your Distance Learning Device.

4. Pay attention to the camera and audio settings. Students will be prompted three times to allow on a Chromebook/Browser: Audio and Camera, Audio, Camera. Check your Audio input and output in Meet settings and that your device speakers are turned up.

Careful consideration is given to each application.  To ensure the grant committee fully understands the intent and impact of each grant, site principals will have the opportunity to meet briefly with the committee to answer questions and provide additional information if needed.  These meetings are scheduled for Wednesday, October 22, 2025.  We will be in touch to schedule a time to meet with you as the date nears.

This year BEEF will fund $100,000 in grants! This is a wonderful opportunity for your teachers to bring to life their innovative and progressive ideas for their classrooms which otherwise might go unfunded.

The BEEF Grant Committee prioritizes funding grants for learning materials, manipulatives, instructional supplements, and other classroom/educational enhancements.  BEEF does not fund subscriptions, site licenses, or consumable items.   

• Testing Window: Sept. 8 - 26 (Note: The 26th is a DL Practice Day). 

• Reports: What used to be the tracking report now seems to be called the usage report!

• Automatic Assessment: As mentioned in our Aug. 15 PD, Amira now automatically launches the assessment the first time a student logs in during the window.

Dear Families,

Our school is holding a Digital Learning Day on September 26th. To ensure a smooth start for your child, please take a moment to help them log in to Google Classroom. This will help them access all of their lessons and assignments for the day.

Here’s all you need to do:

1. Go to [Insert Your Google Classroom Link Here].

2. Use your child's school email and password to log in.

3. Once you're logged in, you should see our class. Please click the "Join" button to be added.

Completing this step ahead of time will help make our Digital Learning Day a great success!

Applications will be considered for grants that enhance the student experience, innovate the classroom, or assist in meeting essential classroom needs. Grants up to $10,000 are open to pre-k through 12^th grade public and private schools within the Cox service areas.

Cox Charities is an employee funded; employee decided program. Funding decisions will be made and communicated by the end of November 2025. Grant funds will be disbursed by end of December.  This year we have more than $165,000 to grant.

Spartan Warrior is almost here!
Our school’s largest fundraiser kicks off on Wednesday, October 2nd with a fun obstacle course and treat for students. After the event, students will bring home all the information to start raising funds.

We need volunteers to help make the day a success!

• Only volunteers may be in student areas (spectators may watch from designated spots).

• Please arrive 5–10 minutes early to check in at the office.

• Volunteers must be BEST certified. Training info: BEST Training Link.

• Send home a SLIP form. Must be sent home and returned with a parent signature within 30 days of the assessment. (Print as needed - not counted against you)

• Communicate to parents that this is coming home and will be discussed further at conferences.

• Complete a Proficiency Form for these students.

• No 30-day restriction - send home at conferences.

CSA's

• Reminder: These do not count against you at the print shop. Just specify they are CSAs when submitting. 

• Reach out to me  if you need help!

Student and parent orders will be delivered on Monday.

A few important notes:

• Sibling orders: Shirts will be grouped together and sent home with the oldest sibling. If you notice a shirt is missing, please check with their sibling first.

• If there are siblings in the same grade but different classes, those orders will go home with one of them.

• If the teachers were placed together, the orders will go home together.

• Donated shirts: Some classes will have donated shirts. These will be clearly marked in the notes on the order. If you have extra shirts, feel free to share them with other classes within your grade if you wish, as not all students purchased or received a donated shirt.

• Order labeling: Each order will have the parent’s name listed, not the child’s name.

• Distribution: Please pass shirts out by the end of the day Monday. This way, if we run into any hiccups, they can be corrected before Thursday (Spartan Warrior).

Lastly, please send out a reminder to parents:

• All students who purchased a shirt should wear their class shirt on Thursday for Spartan Warrior.

• Students who did not purchase a shirt may wear a shirt in their grade-level color.
