The Jazz Age was responsible for the creation and popularization of Jazz music, much of which is utilized in The Great Gatsby. However, despite the time period at which this music was released, the messages conveyed through the music has stood the test of time and is still prevalent in today's music.

Song: Ain't We Got Fun
Artist: Van & Schenck
Genre: Jazz
Important lines: "Not much money, oh but honey, ain't we got fun?". This line from the song shows that you can have fun and live life without money or material things.

Context: This song is played by Kilpsinger when Daisy comes to Gatsby's house for the first time.

Reason: Gatsby lives in West Egg, opposed to Daisy living in East Egg. This means that Gatsby doesn't have quite as much money as her but the song is to imply that money isn't everything and that you don't need money to be happy or to have a good time.
