Rosa vividly remembered Kristallnacht the Night of Broken Glass. Nazis stormed Jewish homes, destroying their possessions and taking away Jewish men and boys. The terror and violence were overwhelming.

She was amazed by the differences in America, such as the abundance of ideas in grocery stores. However, she missed her mother, who remained in Germany.

Trucks arrived in Rosa's village from other towns, and Jewish homes were raided. The Nazis used axes to break doors and windows, seizing or destroying precious belongings- silver, feather-beds, quilts, and even carefully preserved food. Many Jewish men and boys were taken away, never to be seen again.

She was a Active Engagement resister because of her actions during the Holocaust, she saved lives of the Jewish people in her village.

She was not a violent resister because if she were a violent resister she wouldn't have saved lived she would have acted if she didn't care about the people in her village but instead she helped them.
