Hello Parents!  

What an amazing year of VBS! It takes a village to make this such a successful experience for our kids and man does MMOC have the best village! We are so blessed to be apart of this church community. Thank you VBS leaders, volunteers, and families for sending us your wonderful children!

Thank you for sending in all your non perishable foods for the 2 local food banks. We sent in a sizable donation (325 items) thanks to your generosity!

NIGHT 4 RECAP:

Today's theme was: When we need hope we can trust Jesus!

During storytime we learned about both Saint Rita and Saint John Vianney. We also did an activity where students had to hold a cold piece of ice in their hand during storytime as we discussed Jesus' suffering he endured for us. By the end of the story, the kids were so happy to put the ice down and ease the discomfort in their hands. That was just a tiny glimpse into what Jesus endured physically, mentally and emotionally for us.

Tonight students cycled through 4 stations~ Outdoor Games, Arts & Crafts, Storytime, and Snack/Songs. Stations were a little shorter tonight because of our closing prayer and praise event, but we fit in tons of fun! We got to enjoy water balloons, ice cream sundaes, and aurora borealis chalk crafts.

Godsightings: Our tree was full of beautiful godsightings from the children this week. Keep searching for ways God is present in your life everyday. You may not see him physically or hear him, but he is with you and showing that in ways throughout your day.

We were so happy to welcome your children to our VBS Program, True North, this evening. The students loved all the amazing decorations, songs, and skits. The energy & excitement level was so high. Today's theme was: When we wonder, we can trust Jesus!

Our saint of the day was St. Nicodemus.

The students will cycle through 4 stations each day- Outdoor Games, Arts & Crafts, Storytime, and Snack/Song.

Godsightings: Your child's group leader will ask them each day when they arrive if they experienced or witnessed any god sightings- areas in their life where they felt God's presence or saw someone else doing good in Jesus' name. Help your child brainstorm what their godsighting might be in the car ride over to MMOC!

We will be collecting coins for our annual Boys vs Girls competition.  These monetary donations will be going towards Donegal's Power Pack program.

 Also, we will be collecting non perishable foods for the food bank. Please check expiration dates on all items.

A few additional reminders to help our week go smoothly:

Please accompany your child into the Narthex and check-in no later than 5:40pm based off of the color that has been previously assigned to your child(ren):

 Red - Entering PreK or Kindergarten

Blue - Entering 1st or 2nd Grade

Yellow - Entering 3rd Grade

Green - Entering 4th - 6th Grades

Pick-up will be at 8:10pm.  Parents will wait in the Narthex until kids have been taken to the classrooms.  Once you have picked up your child(ren), please exit through the Education hallway doors (similar to FIRE dismissal).

Pick up is as follows and if possible, please pick up youngest first:

Red Group - Kindergarten classroom

Blue Group - PreK classroom

Yellow Group - Choir Room

Green Group - 1st Grade classroom

Another fantastic night of VBS! Today's theme was: When we feel powerless we can trust Jesus!

Our saint of the day was St. Maurice. We learned that he is the patron saint of soldiers & swordsmiths and is usually depicted in full armor, often with a red cross.

The students again cycled through 4 stations~ Outdoor Games, Arts & Crafts, Storytime, and Snack/Song. Our volunteers are amazing and planned & prepped so well. Thank you volunteers😀 How cute was that bald eagle craft? Students also are working together this week to tie knots in our prayer quilt, a special VBS tradition.

Important Reminders:

Tomorrow night is our last night of VBS which means all parents are invited to join us in our closing prayers and praises show starting promptly at 7:30 inside the church. (We suggest a 7:15 arrival) We ask parents to sit on the right side of the church. Children will be seated on the left side behind the organ.

ALL HANDS ON DECK: After you have picked up your child from their crew leader tomorrow night (after the closing prayers & praises show) we are asking for volunteers to PLEASE HELP with VBS decoration tear down.

COINS-COINS-COINS-- GIRLS ARE IN THE LEAD BY $50!

We had a visit from Ms. Bethania from Power Packs Donegal tonight. She explained that all proceeds from the coin war will be going to help the Power Packs organization- who makes sure families in need have enough food on the weekends when kids aren't eating in the school cafeteria. Girls are leading the coin war-- lets keep this competition going! We made over $200 so far!

NIGHT 3 RECAP:

No sun, no problem! The smiling faces of the kids brought the light to VBS tonight. Today's theme was: When we feel alone we can trust Jesus!

During storytime we learned about holy Antonietta Meo. She was just 6 when she went to heaven, but before she did she wrote over 100 letters, many of which she placed at the foot of a statue of Baby Jesus in her room. Her unwavering faith and acceptance of her suffering touched everyone around her.

Tonight students cycled through 5 stations~ Outdoor Games, Arts & Crafts, Storytime, and Snack/Song AND Adoration. We learned about the difference between praying to Jesus and adoration. Praying to Jesus is like giving someone a phone or facetime call. You can talk, but they aren't necessarily physically with you. Adoration is more like a visit to someone's home, Jesus is physically there in the monstrance for you to pray and talk with.

In craft time our students made beautiful lanterns with tea lights that they placed on the altar when they went in to pray at adoration.
