She risked her life because she was a runaway slave trying to help other slaves run to the north, this put a bounty on her leaving slave holders hunting her for the money.

Fredrick douglass escaped from slavery to write newspapers books and an autobiography on how bad slavery was. He was an abolitionist that inspired people through his writing, he worked really hard and tirelessly  to try and abolish slavery making that his goal because he does not want anyone else to suffer the way he did.
