Hello my name is Beatriz i'm from Portugal.
The refugee is a human being on the run, looking for shelter and protection outside his country. Because in the lands where they were born, millions of people are forced to flee, because of violence, wars and poverty. By sea or by land, they risk traveling without conditions, often at the mercy of traffickers.

Refugees are specifically defined and protected under international law. Refugees are people who are outside their countries of origin because of well-founded fears of persecution, conflict, violence or other circumstances that seriously disturb public order and that, as a result, need “international protection”. The situations they face are often so dangerous and intolerable that these people decide to cross national borders to seek security in other countries, being internationally recognized as “refugees” and gaining access to assistance from countries, UNHCR and other relevant organizations. They are thus recognized as being extremely dangerous to return to their countries of origin and therefore need refuge elsewhere. These are people whose denial of refuge can have potentially fatal consequences for your life.
