Managing conflict – in this topic it means leaders and nations trying to take control of disagreements in Europe and the reasons disagreements were happening. Attempts to manage these conflicts could be in order to dominate the continent and look after one’s own interests, or in order to find peace to benefit everyone.
Supranational – that is, setting up organisations to manage conflict that are above the level of the nation-state. Making alliances – that is, national powers making ‘friends’ with other nations and agreeing to military cooperation with them.
Making treaties – that is, negotiated agreements between monarch, nations, other groups.
Balancing the powers – that is, seeking to put systems in place to ensure that one power cannot become dominant over others in the continent.
Economic solutions – that is, building prosperity and trading connections to reduce the desire for gaining more political power. One power dominating – that is, one power asserting its strength over all the others by being far superior in terms of leadership determination to dominate, people and resources.
Leadership – that is, individual people suggesting and driving forward solutions to manage conflict. They could be new or old ideas.
