So my group concluded that this stanza is about the woman accepting that her house was a worldly object and that God has something much better in store for her in Heaven. So after the initial heartbreak of losing her home, she has now accepted that all will be well and God's will, will be done.

"I wakened was with thund’ring noise" - This shows that she was suddenly awoken because of a loud noise she heard.

"That fearful sound of “fire” and “fire,”" - This explains that the noise she heard were the people screaming that there was a fire in the house.

Our group concluded that this poem is a perfect example of Puritan values and culture because even though the author lost everything she owned instead of crying or being distraught. She chose to pray and believe that god had a house and furniture waiting for her in heaven. Therefore she was content and didn't need to panic about the fact that she had nothing left.

Instead, of focusing on what she has she corrects herself and reminds herself that she needs to focus on God and what her possessions in heaven. Even though she's lost basically everything, she knows there's a better place that waits for her, a place with God.
