A good person is not someone that is incredibly selfless, they are not defined in this way. A good person has a set of morals and ethics by which they live, they are able to differentiate good actions from those that are bad and act on this. Characteristics of a good person include the ability to care for another as much as they care for themselves, however in my opinion you do not have to engage in great acts of kindness to be classified as a good person. One that simply goes about their own way and does not inflict pain intentionally on another can be classified as a good person. Bad people engage in small acts which result in the suffering of others. Roger is undoubtedly the evil character in this story, and in my opinion the only true evil character. He does not do things for the greater good, or to benefit others. He simply enjoys the suffering others, whether it be Piggy, Ralph or the Lil Uns'. This where I draw the line between Roger and Jack. I think Jack is not evil, just bad. Ultimately, he is doing what he thinks is best for survival on the island. While he does do bad things along the way, includes attempts on people lives, in the end he's doing it for what he thinks will help them survive. Roger, however, couldn't care less about the outcome. He uses his power as leader to have the other kids help him so HE can get rescued. Out of all of the characters in this book, Ralph is the closest to good that there is. It's clear that he is flawed (also a child!) but it's also apparent that some of his decisions are driven by others. For example there is a situation where he suggests that someone needs to look after the smaller children. It's clear that he has empathy towards others as shown in the final page. A good person isn't someone who makes all good decisions, but someone who can regret their bad decisions. Ralph I would say as good
Even though he starts of bad and acting like a jerk like when he teased piggy about his nick name, as the story progresses he would try to be responsible and act mature like an adult. He didn't really do this very well, and when he was elected the leader, often times other people like Jack would take the lead. Ralph means well, but sometimes doesn't always do well. Piggy -
To me, Piggy is a good character, though when placed in the situation that the boys are placed in, Piggy lacks the physical ability to 'help' the others. It is evident in his speech that he attempts to do so, but fails inevitably and not by choice. The other characters do not appreciate Piggy's true spirit and only see him for his physical attributes which he does not have control over, this leads to his death.

Ralph -
To me, Ralph is also a good character, he accepts responsibility and attempts to lead the group. Some may point out the fact that he initially teases Piggy for his name and tells the others that he is called Piggy despite Piggy's request to refrain from this action. This later leads to the making fun of Piggy, therefore Ralph intentionally hurt Piggy however due to Ralph's age this could be deemed as simply playfulness.

Piggy is a character easily defined as 'good'. Even when the tribes turn against him, he still works with them for the good of the whole. When Ralph temporarily loses sight of the goal they are working towards (escape) Piggy is always there to remind him, help him through, comfort him and assist in getting things done. All the characters in Lord of the Flies have the potential to commit Evil. Evil serves as a temptation for all the characters through out the story, but the differences between them make them react to this temptation in different ways.
Roger, who could be considered the most stereotypical and shallow character, appears one sided because he gives in to this temptation easily. The only thing that had previously stopped him from committing evil acts was the system in place that prevented it. When free from this system, Roger sees himself as free from the restrictions that told him to be a good person.
Jack begins the book as someone who tries to be a good person, but he is still a child, and wants to play in this new found paradise without thought of the consequences. He does not see that he is becoming evil. Jack develops and becomes closer to the evil within him throughout the book. Every time he kills something, he is driven further towards evil, and fully embraces it after Simons death.

Ralph tries to be a good person throughout the whole book. He tries to establish order within his tribe for the sake of everybody, and is constantly thinking of the greater good.
