in a world where people have a constant need for organization, there are always people being grouped into stereotype that don't fit who they are. by stereotyping you define others worth for them and develop their opinions and thoughts and actions without giving them a chance to do those things for themselves. this can be detrimental to peoples mental health because of how other people put there stereotypes on them and make it impossible for people to figure out who they are for themselves, without other people figuring it out for them.

the aquaman movie

this movie is great example of being different in a place that doesn't see differences as an advantage but more of a set back. throughout the story it showed the change in the power dynamic from aquamans brother to aquaman. at first everyone in the ocean followed his brother because he was a full fish and this made people think he was more trustworthy. most people in our world are afraid of change because as humans we naturally stick to what we are most comfortable with, which in this case its what we are used to seeing. in our society the person with the most power is someone we are used to seeing and who has a familiar face, which in the US is typically a white man. this all changed in 2008 when barrack Obama was elected the first African american president of the united states, which was an amazing day that changed the way people viewed power in the US. when there is a change in the way society functions whether its good or bad people can get freaked out, so in the end of the movie when aquaman became king everyone was sceptical at first, because they just assumed he would be a bad leader because of his heritage, but they eventually learned to except him because they saw that he was a ind amazing leader. In our society people need to be more expecting because in the end we are all human and it shouldn't matter the color of your skin or the religion you follow or the things you believe in. discrimination has no point expect making people feel bad about something they shouldn't have to change and people should be made to feel proud of who they are, not put down.

this is a podacst about a program where two schools from the Bronx, one is a public school located in one of the poorest districts in the US with 97% african and hispanic kids and the other is a private school that costs $43,000 a year with 70% white kids. the big difference in the two schools besides the general appearence and racial divide is that one puts so much time and effort into making sure no kid gets left behind, and that every single one of them are going to have a bright future and the other school does the opposite. in the public school there is a program where kids go to the private school to visit and see what its like and its supposed to show them that if they work really hard someday they can live a life like this, but for one kids this was a very traumit experience. when they got there she was in tears and screaming. after a while the teachers finally managed to calm her down, but later in the middle of the tour, it was so upsetting for her that she just left. this was caused by the overwhelming feeling of realizing that you were brought into the world with so much less than other kids have and knowing that you are destined to fail. kids who go to these schools called " dropout factorys" have a preconsived idea before even going to school that because they go to this type of school they will fail in life and they wont go places because they didn't get the right oppurtunities to succeed. since the goverment doesn't have enough funding to give to these schools, the school system is forced to higher lower paid teachers that generally don't work as hard or care as much as the teachers in the richer area's of the country. kids need to know that they have people that care about them and there future, and they need to feel like there education will be worth something, because the right education and ecnouragment can get you very far in life. this will happen by giving schools in poverty more funding so that they have the right textbooks and ciriculum to give these kids a fair education.

A ted talk called theres more to life than being happy

This ted talk was about the importance of finding your purpose and figuring out all the things that have made you, you. she tells a story about a person who didn't have a purpose and now her purpose is healing because she became a doctor and she loves it. Then she tells another story about a star football player, that in one game became paralyzed after a serious accident and before he was paralyzed he talks about being a selfish guy who always partied, but now that he had time to stop and think he describes himself as a nice and caring person and he says he has a better life. this also brings up the issue of people who are lost and looking for a purpose but they end up finding a bad purpose like being in a gang or a cult, and there needs to be alternate ways for those people to find a purpose. in a very busy society that has no time for anyone to stop, for some people never find a purpose because they never had the time to pause and think about what they really wanted to do with there life. purpose can give you a sense of true belonging whether its to a job or community or club, people need to make time to find what they love doing and turn it into something great

Experiences of ADHD-Labeled Kids Who Leave Typical Schooling by psychology today

this is an article about the experiences kids with ADHD have had in public schooling and while on medication to help with there inability to focus. In almost all the story's, the parents or siblings or people with ADHD told the experience of the difference in the kids' behavior in public school v.s homeschooling, and the conclusion was ADHD kids do so much better homeschooling because they have their own freedom to learn. These kids better learn well moving so with homeschooling they have the freedom to run around without disturbing other people that they would be disturbing in school. Kids with ADHD love learning, but aren't taught in the way they should be and don't have the right supports in school to be able to learn in the way they have to, to be productive, so they have to leave. because of the little, to no support kids have in school to help with their lack of focus, they became very depressed, anxious and just generally unhappy because they equate there bad grades to being dumb, but its really that they just have a different way of learning. school is made for an A-typical way of learning, which is sitting and listening and those are the two things people with ADHD can't do. these stories explain how there needs to be more accommodations for kids with ADHD because there are many kids who struggle with ADHD and feel like school is an awful place that doesn't fit the way of learning they need to be successful. schools should definitely be more educated about ADHD and understand that it is a big problem that effects to many kids around the world.

legally blonde the musical performed by LHS

this musical is based off of the iconic movie legally blonde, which tells the story of a sorority girl that just got broken up with her longtime boyfriend because he thought she was too dumb for him, because he got into Harvard law and she was just a sorority girl that never studied. So she decides to prove that she is good enough for him by getting into Harvard law and trying to win him back, but along the way she realizes that she is way too smart to be chasing after some guy and she works really hard and studies all over break and ends up acing her law class. the gif below is when her ex see's her there and asks all surprised " you got into Harvard law " and she " what like its hard?" and this just explains that she doesn't let how other people preceive her, determine or change how she acts. an example of this is in the courtroom, in the final scene when she comes in with her bright pink blazer and doesn't care what other people think of her because she knows she's smart and doesn't need other peoples approval, and she is an absolute icon because of this! But for some people judgement can really effect them whether it happens over a long period of time or its just really mean what the other person is saying and they don't know how to deal with. this is why you always got to be aware of when your judgemental and your judging people because they are wearing something different or saying something that you don't agree with. small things you say to people can effect there mood and make them lot more self conciuos even though you might not realize it. don't judge people because they are different, celebrate them because they are unique, because if everyone was the same the world would be a really really boring place. there will always be judgement int he world because everyone has different opinions, but when there is judgement we should all act like Elle and brush it off and move on because in the grand scheme of things there opinions really don't matter!

the short story called "laughter" from the book "House on Mango Street"

this story is about the comparison of two pairs of sisters and one is super put together and snobby and the other ones don't look anything alike. the story is called laugh because they compared the sisters laughs and the first snobby pair have a super fake laugh, and you can tell that they aren't actually happy, and it also describes how they don't connect that well as sisters. Then with the second pair, they always laugh at stupid funny stuff together, and there laugh is described as "dishes breaking" and they have a strong connection. the snobby pair of sisters always judges them and describes them as weird because of how they act. The truth is the sisters that have the "weird" laugh are the ones that are genuinly happy, compared to the other ones who are just laughing to make people think they are happy. this emphasizes the importance of not comparing yourself to others in a society that constantly makes you compare yourself, with giant billboards and magazines of photoshopped people that don’t look anything like you. Real happiness is much better than fake happiness and that's all people look for in life is real genuine happiness and some of those people in the magazine are really unhappy, so in reality you would not want to be them. overall comparing is bad because people don't know what the people they are comparing themselves to are struggling with.

the short story called the moth with the crooked feeler by american literature

this story is about these moths that were bestfreind's and the girl one of them was really colorful, and the guy one was scrawny and had a crooked antena ( hence the name). So on day these mean moths come over and start insulting the scrawny moth and the girl moth got mad at them and then they started insulting her and the guy moth started a fight with them trying to defend her and ended up breaking his wing. he managed to scare off the moths, but eventually he died from the injuries and then later is says that she had his kids and its like woah plotwist! The message in this is that people or animals should just be nice to eachother and get along, instead of making fun of eachother for a difference of appearance. the moth was a very nice moth and did not deserve to die, but he died because of those other mean moths that were picking on him, so being mean is not good and doesn't help anyone.

10 major problems facing public schools written by public school review

this article disscuses many of the big issues in public schooling today like testing based ciriculum and discrinamtion in the classroom. these issues can make dentremental impacts on the kids mental health because they have to be in an enviroment that they don't feel safe in 7 hours a day, 5 days a week which is not fun. for the testing based ciriculum, the students scores say how well the teacher is doing, so that's all the teachers focus on teaching because they don't want to lose their job. many elementary schools are forced to cut time out of recess and lunch because of this, which is the only time the students get to have a break and be a kid. the state focuses so much on the perfect score and the perfect scores but there are kids behind those scores that are suffering and it's not fair. school tells kids that they are not a test score or a grade but how can they say that when everyday we are reminded of the midterms and finals and SAT's. It's a constant never ending cycle of testing that only requires memorization for a day and than all the stuff you memorized goes away and you never use it again. with the discrimination aspect in schools, people get picked on constantly for being different or being dumb or even for being too smart. There is also the issue of racial seperation in schools in poverty and schools with money, as I talked about from the podcast before this. schools in poverty tend to have a higher percentage of people of color whereas schools with money have a higher percentage of white people, which is an issue that shouldn't be happening and needs to be fixed.

This is important because the meaning of this podcast is to show the kindness of people in the world and how there are kind people in the world, which is a good thing to think about because sometimes it seems like there aren't.

This was an animated short film about a person that worked in a eye glass store and there were a lot of different people that came in like a kid who stole things and a guy who bought a telescope and a creepy man who stole some of her hair. theres even this one old lady who comes in with broken glasses and shes all smiling and happy, but when she gets the new fixed glasses and looks around, she frowns and walks out. theres also another girl that comes in with glasses and shes wearing like a dark cloak and a hood and when she puts the contacts in the claock flies off and every guy in the store sticks to her like a magnet. eventually this blind guy walks past her shop as she is about to get on the bus to go home, but he drops his glasses and so she decides that she will follow the line made by his walking stick. along the way she encounters all the people that have been in her shop and she sees that the kid who stole the microscope is killing bugs with it and the person who stole her hair has a cloning shop, and she just hates everything she is seeing. in the end she catches up with the guy and she has a thinking moment where she looks at him and looks at the broken glasses, then she takes her glasses off, smashes them on the ground and they walk away togther, unable to see the world. this was such a powerful film that connects all the ideas im trying to convey in one meaning becuase it explains everything wrong with society from the judgement with the women who was afraid to be seen with glasses to the awful kid who was clearly not taught anything.
