Students are placed in classes based on their needs, backgrounds, learning styles, not on their cohort.

It's important because it shows respect for our differences while understanding each other and learning from each other’s differences. We must familiarize ourselves with each other, our culture, and beliefs to be able to build a positive relationship and a culturally responsive environment.

First step is in doing "mirror work" ourselves and becoming informed on cultural backgrounds, our own biases and growing through learning about our differences.
