During the holidays in December 2024, I went to Cimory in Malang with my family. At 7 a.m., my aunt arrived at my house to pick up my sister, my mom, and me so we could go together. She even booked a driver for the trip. When we arrived at Cimory, it started to rain, and I felt a bit sad because it was an outdoor activity, and the rain continued to fall heavily. However, it turned out that there was a 3D gallery museum we could visit first while we waited for the rain to stop. After waiting for a few hours, the rain finally stopped, and we were excited to continue our activities at Cimory.

The first thing we did was head over to see all kinds of animals, you have to have a ticket to actually go inside the dairyland. We saw so many different types of birds, owls, etc and i think it was so fun me and my cousin also did a short vlog to commemorate the memories.

My opinion about the polterabend custom in germany

Shards of Luck : German Polterabend Custom Marriage

The Polterabend (Polish:pultrować) is a German and to a lesser extent Polish, Austrian and Swiss wedding custom in which, on the night before the wedding, the guests break porcelain to bring luck to the couple's marriage. The belief in the effectiveness of this custom is expressed by the old adage: "Shards bring luck" (German: Scherben bringen Glück). While some may view it as merely a chaotic ritual, the Polterabend embodies a blend of luck seeking tradition, social bonding, and a symbolic preparation for the couple's future.

The tradition is based on the belief that shards bring luck to the marriage. This belief, rooted in a time when pottery was precious, highlights the importance of shared prosperity and good fortune in the couple's journey together. Breaking porcelain represents the release of past negativity and the welcoming of a fresh start, a symbolic act that resonates with the transition into marriage.

Furthermore, the Polterabend serves as a unique opportunity for the couple to celebrate with their close friends and family in a relaxed and informal setting. It is a chance to share laughter, joy, and perhaps even a few bittersweet moments as the couple bids farewell to their "single" lives. This communal aspect of the tradition reinforces the importance of social bonds and the support system that will accompany the couple throughout their marriage. And also after they break their porcelains together the married couple must thereafter take care of cleaning up the pile of shards. This is supposed to make the couple aware that they will have to suffer together through difficult conditions and situations in life.

In my opinion, even while the Polterabend has evolved over time, its tradition to believe in luckiness, community, and preparation remained strong so that's what makes me feel interested in reading the reasoning behind the tradition. This event provides a way for the couple to forge a meaningful connection with their loved ones while embracing the exciting challenges that lies ahead. Perhaps more importantly, it allows them to approach their new life together with a sense of joy, optimism, and a touch of playful chaos.
