      <title>Crime and Education: 5th Period by K Stanford</title>

      <description>Students will be split into eight groups provided with an activity that highlights a correlation between literacy and crime. Each group will either read text selections about Wes Moore, articles one or two, factors that affect graduation rates, TCSS graduation rates, and states with the best and worst education rates. After each group has researched, read, and discussed key points in their text, each member of the group OR one designated person from the group will then post a discussion examining how their group&#39;s reading reflects the cause and effect between education and criminal convictions/incaraceration. After your group has finished posting to your column, please answer the question under the &quot;Conclusion Board&quot; column. Be sure to include your name or the name of your group members in the &quot;topic&quot; section of the post. Explain your answer in complete sentences providing your explanation and evidence from the text anaylzed in your group. </description>

         <description><![CDATA[<div>Massachusetts, followed by New Jersey, and Florida are the top 3 states with the highest Education Rate. They are probably ranked so high because of their high government and economic communities abilities.<br><br>On the other hand, Mississippi, followed by West Virginia, and Louisana have the worst Education Rate. Mainly because of the bad economic capabilities. Basically the things the states with good education rates have states with low education rates don't have.</div>]]></description>

Throughout the country there are thousands of adults who are illiterate because they are not able or have chosen to not get an education. To fix some of these issues schools need adequate funding, class sizes must be reduced, qualified teachers need access to more resources, and community programs need to be supported and expanded.</div>]]></description>
