I use this quiz-game making website in my tech classes to allow students to create their own unit assessments. They can work in collaborative groups to build their quizes for chapters of a literature unit or a science or social studies unit and then they can share the quizes online with other classes in our Upper Elementary school who are studying the same units. The kids love to try to challenge other classes by coming up with higher level questions. It is a great way to help them work on summarizing and looking for the main points in their content area lessons.

I've used Quizlet as a learning tool that helps my students study anything in any subject. This is a free website which allows teachers and students to create digital flashcards. In addition, Quizlet can automatically create interactive games and even tests of the material that is enter into it.
My students have especially enjoyed using Quizlet to practice studying for their Social Studies vocabulary tests.
Quizlet makes learning the different terms and definitions like a fun, engaging game.

This is something I have done with my personal finance class. Students take a pretest, complete real life "scenarios" related to money and budget and then take a post test. After the post-test they are given more scenarios where they save for college and make a series of decisions. It is free, you can either print out the workbooks, or Banzai will find you a local sponsor so you can get the workbooks. By far the best budgeting/personal finance resource I have found

This gets to an earlier point in this course, it isn't about the tool but about the Why.

Student-centered learning is a major shift for teachers. It means truly focusing on what the students are doing. It means that the teacher's role looks and feels very different.

It's my favorite tech tool to get students thinking and communicating about math, and collaborating in a digital environment about important ideas.

My students manage their own learning using two programs: Xtra and Accelerated Math. In Xtra math, students race the teacher to develop automaticity in addition, then subtraction, then multiplication, and finally division. They manage their own learning and gauge success in the program based on how many smiley faces they earn. It is a great program for early learning. Accelerated Math is fabulous as well. It is common core based and students work to complete mastery on their assigned standards. All students are at different levels, and the goal is to master standards and continue on.

-Becky Servant

SO this app is actually like a "head's up" game, but you can add your own custom list! Imagine sharing out a list of terms and big ideas out to your students and then they have to play this game. Not only do the people giving the clues have to be able to describe the term/idea, but the "guesser" has to figure it out too. VERY easy to set up and initiates LOTS of talking and discussion as well as some competition!
