The book tells us about Nelson Mandela's Life since the day he was born until the end of his life. The main conflict that he has to deal with is Apartheid and racial segregation in South Africa. For this he promoves strikes, participates in the ANC, faces prision and even leads a whole country. All of this for the cause he believed in: equality.

After Mandela was taken out of prision, he was elected as the first black president in South Africa, he wanted a national reconciliation and he created a Truth and Reconciliation Commission.
In 1997 Mandela decided to retire him self from the politics and even after that he founded the Nelson Mandela Foundation wich helped building schools and fighting AIDS and some other foundations were inagurated as a tribute to him. On December 5th., 2013 Nelson Mandela died after suffering a prolonged respiration infection, at the age of 95 surrounded by his family.
