2.She has a papaya tree and she treats it like it's her child. 

3.She lives in Saigon, Vietnam During the war in the 70's. But then she moves to Alabama.

4.She is rebellious sometimes but she loves her mother very much.

5. She is being bullied at school.

6. She had to repeat the grade because she had to leave school early back at Vietnam which is why she feels dumb.

7.She is getting lessons from Miss Washington to learn english.

8. Her mother wants ther to become a lawyer but she disagrees and says that she will become a lot more agreeable.

2.She worked as a secretary at a navy office back in Vietnam but now she is a seamstress.

3. She is very hopeful that her husband will come back home one day but she always seems sad but later she accepts that he is gone.

4. She comes home hurt on her fingers because of the sewing machine but things later get better.

5.She had to say she is Christian to be sponsored to live comfortably.

6.She is trying her best to provide the best for her family.

7. She is trying to be hopeful in everything!

8. She truly thinks that things are going well and they are so she is very happy that her prayers were answered and she feels at peace now.

2.He likes animals and cares for them.

3. He is someone that cares a lot about his father,home and he is just overall a family guy. 

4. He brought a baby chick with him but after getting one the chick did not make it.

5.He held onto the chick for a long time because he cared about it a lot.

6.He has been currently very quiet because of all of the stuff that has been going on.

7. He is also being bullied at school so a way to help Ha is that he takes her to school on his bike.

8. He is going to become a doctor for animals and his mother is fine with that.

2.He likes to act like Bruce lee and he is Loud. 

3.He would dream of going to AMerica and because he "trains" like Bruce lee, he has become very strong like when he picked up Kim Ha and held his Brothers and mother.

4. He was getting picked on at school but he scared this one kid so then they don't really mess with him.

5. He also had to repeat the grade even though he was just about to graduate.

6. He is teaching Ha how to defend herself from the bullies.

7. He wants to become a chef and wanted to go to a special school for it.

8. He is going to San Francisco where his idol once walked to become a chef. Mother wasn't fond of it but she it okay with it.

2. Takes care of his younger siblings with mother. 

3.He is very political but he also is someone who will try to fight for what is right and he wanted to stay and not leave because he didn't want to leave his honor. 

4. He is the family translator for almost everything. 

5.He has to work as a car fixer.

6.He comes home always mad because he just has a hard time. 

7.He is a person that tries his best in everything he does.

8. He is taking night classes to become an engineer. Mother is very happy and proud of him.

2. Mother still thinks that by doing prayers he will come back home. 

3.Father loved his family and would always be there for his wife and children. 

4.He was from North Vietnam but he moved to South Vietnam with his Wife. Also mother was promised to him when he was 5! Then they got married at 16.

5. He had to leave his family in North Vietnam and so his family does not know what happened but then his family accepted that he was gone.

2. She shows a lot of pity towards Kim Ha and Ha does not like her pity. 

3.  She is Kim Ha's Teacher. 

4.Though she seems to mean well, she also has no idea about how to help Ha—a refugee—settle into her classroom. 

5. She humiliates Hà in front of everyone several times, and basically does nothing to help her situation.

2. He is cruel to Kim Ha and makes fun of her. 

3. He bullies her constantly so Kim Ha does not like him at all. 

4. At first Kim Ha Thought that he was curious about her dark hair on her arms but he was teasing her. 

5.  He and his friends regularly follow Ha home after school, shouting taunts at her.
