I make them sit for the full time. Sometimes I make them write reflections, which they think is the worst thing ever. It's helped some.

1) Start with name on warning board.

2) Send the child outside the classroom with the activity to finish.

3) Curbside recess (timeout during recess)

4) 1:1 with student

5) Call parent

6) Office referral

I also move their seats around when I see two students talking too much.

Don't allow them to do hands on activities outside/shop and assign worksheets if they are disruptive and refuse to listen.

Address the behavior after class individually to really talk about what happened. Give students chance to tell me why they're behaving that way or their side of the story in some situations.

Stop and stare to wait for the class to stop being disruptive. Eventually, kids get frustrated and start to manage the behavior on their own because they want to be productive. It only takes a few who care!

My students have came up with a chart that if they say certain words on things that are banned they will run a certain number of laps. I had started this at the beginning of the year and it turned out to not be a punishment but something fun. So with them doing this themselves shows accountability and the want to improve their behavior.

Rearranging the desk directions, not just having rows or groups but having some face inward and/or towards the front in shorter rows. It has helped separate talkative groups and easier to see who is disrupting class

Treat the class as a team. Force them to hold each other accountable by putting discipline on the class as a whole. Helps minimize behavior

I have a timeout pod which is closest to my desk that I put kids in when they are being disruptive. They can earn time back in their regular pod with good behavior.

Keep Teaching

If I don't stop teaching when kids are being disruptive, they get annoyed that I'm not giving them attention. And their peers start fussing at them because they can't learn.
