Jurors can have conscious or unconscious bias (ie. racial prejudice). It can be difficult to comprehend complex statistical evidence. They may be influenced more by emotional reasoning than legal boundaries. Members of the jury could feel pressured by the rest of the group. The case could cause psychological strain on jury members.

Jurors are comprised of normal people without any prior legal knowledge, this shows diversity and democracy. Juries can prevent wrongful punishment of individuals due to an objective view of the case. There are also 12 members meaning better evidence recall.
