In previous semesters, the college would put pressure on full-time faculty to teach overloads because they couldn't find adjuncts to teach them because the pay was terrible. It's better now because they raised the pay 1-2 years ago, so we are being asked less. Faculty shouldn't feel pressured to work overtime when it's less than 50% of regular rate on our contract. For context, my father was an uneducated construction worker. When he worked over time, he got 1.5 times his hourly rate.
