The counterculture movement created numerous social changes for the future, by developing people's voices through protests and liberating freedom of speech. Peoples thoughts and ideas were changed and acted on in response to the newly changed television industry and were freed by the revolutionary time of the counterculture movement.

The truth was shown for one of the first times on the T.V, people could see how truly barbaric war was. The images people saw created uproars of protest against the war. The television did not only comfort citizens it showed the truth as well (Hamilton).

The counterculture’s effect on the television industry was immense, it formatted the way information is presented and socially changed the information references from newspaper to video. After World War II had come to a close the television industry grabbed the opening they saw for Westerns and sitcoms. Dozens of T.V shows were created with outlandish problems that could be fixed in 30 minutes to satisfy the American’s want for comfort and peaceful solutions after the six-year war. Shows like Father Knows Best did amazing. An all-white family perfect in their home; with a traditional mother cooking dinners, and goofy problems from her kids fixed easily by the man of the house, but he television industry was soon to change (Hamilton).

The television industry has changed in many ways, biased news channels are hard to get information out of clearly, but the structure of the media stays the same as it was created in the 1960's during Vietnam War.

Abbie Hoffman wrote books about bringing down the US government, he rallied thousands to leave civilization as they knew it and to move into communes. He popularized the idea that in chaos the American civilization would fall and then the hippies would take over the power. Abbie Hoffman spoke whatever was in his mind and was an immense part of the hippie movement where people would quit their jobs, steal what they needed to survive, and join a communes. His words spread a new world like wildfire (Hoffman).

The first image is from the 1963 March on Washington. The second image is from the 2018 March on Our Lives which fought for gun banning. The 1963 March On Washington was in response to the job discrimination and the segregation roaring through America. Both marches were in response to human rights not being shown. Although the March on Washington in 1963 was not for gun violence it was for African American rights, both had the objective of human equality. Although these two marches are not the same, the reason they were created and the voice they gave many different types of people struggling for the same objective is the same (Andone). This years march shows that the counterculture movement's influence is still in progress, students have learned that they have power to speak the truth and that human rights can be fought for and achieved. The counterculture revolution changed the world for the better.

Housing segregation was splitting the citizens of America apart and soon the great migration started, African Americans moved from the south to the north to escape the violence and to find jobs. Not only did the African Americans struggle with inequality, woman were commonly power deprived housewives. America was recovering, but not in the right way, the counterculture movement was close to mixing the social norms more to the way we live today.
