A local businessman met with the superintendent and lawyer to discuss using the trail for newspapers to write about the town. Darrow challenged Bryan on various bible verse that related back to the issue of evolution. Tennessee prevented the teaching of evolution in schools until the Butler Act's was repeal in 1967.
