In the prologue Chaucer tells a little bit about each of the characters I will talk about the night. he was a distinguished man and did not discriminate( WW) on others. He did his job happily and rode along with the chivalry. Chaucer explains that he road along abroad "with truth, honor, generousness, and courtesy," (Chaucer 4).

Openly, (OADV) Chaucer explains in the book that when the hosts go on their upcoming Journey they should play a little game to keep them entertained. Each pilgrim tell's two tales on the way to Canterbury and two on the way home "by telling two stories on the outward trip" (Chaucer 24). and the winner will receive a prize

The Monk a grown man,(ODAJ) spent most of his time riding his horses, hunting, and tacking care of his animals. "a man who rode the country; hunting was his sport." ( Chaucer 7).

A man notices that women are crying in the road and he asks them why and they tell him that their husbands were killed in the battle of Thebes "on all our husbands for when they were slain their bodies were dragged out onto the pain"( Chaucer 28). the women were doleful(ww) that they did not have anything left of their husbands.

Enraged at the fact of the women morning, Theseus returns the bones of their husbands to the women, as a kind gesture so the women may be at peace " And to the ladies he restored again, the bones belonging to their husbands slain" (Chaucer 30).

Two cousins Palamon and Arcite, our up in a prisons tower and they see a beautiful woman named Emily out from the tower window and before they even meet her they start fighting over her. Arcite was released under some conditions, he was not allowed to show his face if he were ever to be found again in that land "That he immediately should lose his head". (Chaucer 35) but because Emily is still there he didn't want to leave he thought that his cousin Palamon, was getting it better because he got to stay in the land with the beautiful girl Emily even though he was Arcite would be free.

A Kight rapes a woman, and the king threatens to kill him, but the queen says that he could live if he answered this question: "What is the thing women most desire?" (Chaucer 282). She said she would give him one year to answer this question or he would have his head off.

After looking and talking to women and asking them what they wanted, each one had different answers, and he was running out of time, but one day he met this old hag who told him what women wanted. “Women desire to have sovereyntee as well over hir husband as his love, and for to be in maistrie hym above.” Chaucer 284).

In the book, the old ugly hag says to the knight, that women want lots of things but mainly sovereignty over their husbands. But times have changed and now men and women are equal, so i think a lot of women want someone that will love them and not judge them on their past. My grandmother told me that when your finding you partner, look for one that wont judge you but loves you for you. in my opinion this is what women value most.
