Our health and care partnership have been working really hard with service users to get new ways of delivering services to us. they have just created their new padlet with the latest information on it.

This month we looked at a number of things that are happening across Sussex. its quite a challenge looking at everything at once, there is so much going on. we asked the Clare project and switchboard to present back to us about a new initiative and some research on the impact of Covid on LGBTQi communities. the feedback is a sad indictment of the continuing pressures that are felt by our diverse communities.
as the programme lead it is my responsibility to make sure that we are getting these messages into the heart of our transformation and getting experts by experience and voice into our plans.

The sad reality of our diverse communities, unsafe housing, raised anxiety, having to return to places and "go back into the closet" because of the pandemic are all articulated in this document from switchboard. being able to take information like this into the transformation programmes will help us deliver the right services

YMCA ready set connect

nominated for a national award our local YMCA have been busy alongside Sussex partnership developing services for young people with young people. designing websites and videos as well as directly inputting into the service itself is a really good demonstration of not only partnership working but working in creative ways with our young people

Having people link our services from a variety of places means that we need to make sure that we are really looking after people properly. we have signed up to a set of principles that have been created by a service user led organisation called the National service user network.

So we are trying to make sure that the way in which we are looking after people is right and our environments become more accessible for service users and carers to be.

What is coproduction

Participation has three types of ways we get information. we often do "consultation" we have an idea and we ask what people think and we might make adjustments to our plans about it.

Coproduction takes this a step further in that we get people with lived experience to be alongside other decision makers to create something together. sometimes we might have a focus group or have experts by experience or community ambassadors in places where they can share the power in the room and have an equal place at the table. We have a participation team that helps us with this with Sussex partnership and community ambassadors with the Commissioners. we also have a lot of feedback that comes from our voluntary sector and third sector partners. we need to be able to make that stronger.

sometimes, this happens at a national level and local to make sure that we can make the transformation program take shape with proper input

one of the ways to get real "doing with" coproduction is to use quality improvement (QI) and OD methods. these can really help you work with people from different areas of the system in partnership working as well as coproduction. why not take a look at the training that is quite quick to give you an overview of QI and some methods that are helpful. https://improvementacademy.org/our-training/bronze-quality-improvement-training.html
