The Apennine Mountains run North to South for about 830 miles. This was impactful to Roman Civilizations because it made for only half of the land, as if the Romans where to move to the Western end too, they would be split apart and easy to attack, so they could only stay on the East side. The mountains also impacted government decisions because when they are launching an attack or defending, they have to take into account that the attackers would most likely have not a lot of attackers coming from the West, because the mountains are difficult to scale and take an army across.

The Po River Valley was another huge landform, this made way for agricultural success because the river provided water to the plants and the people and it was also a source of food for the Roman people. It made Rome expand grow rapidly, because it gave the cities plenty of food and water and resources. This also impacted government decisions because during wartime, the river could be used as a way to get to the heart of their civilization, so they had to protect it greatly at all costs.

The Volcanoes in Rome were also greatly impactful, take Mount Vesuvius, I'm sure everyone has heard of it, the one that suc=ffocated all of Pompeii in ash, and became famous for it. This was very impactful because it took out a major city, and that weakened Rome as a whole. Pompeii impacted government decisions because the government had to decide whether or not to put a city next to Vesuvius, as it was a risk, and it must have taken a lot of thinking to come to the decision a city would be next to a very awake and ready to blow volcano.

The marshes covering Rome were greatly impactful, at least their land was. The Romans drained them and used the land to build mighty empires and marketplaces and everything a community needs to thrive and survive. Also, these marshes impacted government decisions because before they were drained, they were difficult to cross and build on, so they impacted how the Romans wanted to move their armies around it during an attack, and if it was safe for people to build there.
