Meaningful learning with technology must include both engaging concepts and engaging intellectual properties. Authenticity is also key for meaningful learning (Howland). Having the use of technology like something as simple as a video or interactive game can bring a lesson to life for students to really grasp the content.

Meaningful learning is when children are offered new experiences that are similar to information they already know and when the students are wanting to make connections with the new and previous information and experiences. To have a child learn in a meaningful way, they have to be wanting to engage with the lesson. Meaningful learning is an experience of when kids can go beyond just the memorization and the recall of information. It takes students outside of the classroom and into the real world so they can be successful in life. The learning includes 5 things; active, constructive, intentional, authentic, and being cooperative. These things can help students be engaged- and technology should do just that. Help with the meaningful learning and not just be the meaningful learning.
