While walking through this neighborhood, I noticed that there were many run down buildings that did not look like they were being maintained. This looks like empty housing that has not been put to use yet. I think that if this isn't being used, it should be converted into something like a help center, or something like a safety center that can be used by the public.

There is also quite a bit of space around this building, so there could even be a couple different centers. Some other buildings that can be put in place would be something like an animal shelter, or like a fresh garden business where people can get some local groceries at.

Run down yards

While passing through this neighborhood, I noticed that many yards were not kept in great condition, along with some sidewalks too. I noticed a lot of trash on sidewalks, and some also were cracked. I think that it would be beneficial if those were managed better to create a more pleasing neighborhood.

While walking around, I noticed that there was an empty lot. I think that having an empty community like this brings down the value of the overall neighborhood, and makes it so that nothing really sticks out to people. This could possibly be turned into a park or a rec center for the community, that I think would bring much more value.

A market or a restaurant could also be put in place here, which would make it so those luxuries would be available to the people in this neighborhood, and they wouldn't have to make an unwanted drive to pick up food or groceries across town.

Run down sidewalks

As walking towards the neighborhood I chose, I recognized many different run down side walks, that should be re-vamped. It would help to make the neighborhood look nicer, as well as have solid flat sidewalks that people can walk on.

Coffee Shop

I'm sure that this coffee shop sells good items, but business may be better if it was more eye catching, and looked a bit more pleasing to the eye. It would probably help if the outside was kept a little bit better, which may be planting flowers, and having a cozier outdoor seating area. it could also use more lighting and maybe a couple heating lamps for the patio.

Apartments

This is what looked like apartments to me as walking by. I think that the driveway in front of them could be fixed up a bit, and the outdoor area can look a bit nicer. They can plant something out front, and maybe have a little patio area as well. They could also make it look a bit more home like so it would be more pleasing to the public when looking for a place to stay.

I walked through this street and saw that the sidewalks were pretty cracked, along with yard just looking dead on the sides. To fix this, side walks can be re-vamped, and yards can be maintained by landscapers or planting plants and watering.

Towards the end of walking through this neighborhood, I saw fallen tree branches, that should be cleared away. It blocks a small part of the road, but its still important to maintain a clear road for drivers

This experience has shown me that this area of Utah needs to have their neighborhoods maintained better. It has definitely opened my eyes from what I am used to. I'm not used to living in the city so it was definitely different from what I have lived in back home. The neighborhoods are also really populated to me; it seems like there's smaller sized houses, but there is a lot of them. I also didn't see any really nice houses. Most of them were pretty run down, and looked like it has been a while since they were taken care of properly. Most of them could have probably used a paint job, some outdoor aesthetics, and just overall re-vamping of roads/sidewalks. I also did not see many centers for the public other than a hospital. I didn't walk by many parks except for one, and that one did not look like a park anymore. It wasn't grassy like parks usually are, and just looked grown out and dead. I also didn't see any gyms, gardens, markets, or small businesses around, which makes the neighborhood lack something that people would usually like to have. Back home I'm used to having a local market and a restaurant right around the corner from my house, so it feels weird to not have one in the neighborhood. I researched this neighborhood a bit and these houses go between 1 million to almost 2 million. I don't think that it would be worth to live in this neighborhood for that price. You're not getting a very well maintained house or all of the resources that should be available in a neighborhood. I think that if more resources were added to this neighborhood, it would be highly beneficial. It lacks the cozy, clean, and spacious feeling that i'm used to in neighborhoods. I think by adding in these features, and fixing up the roads and houses a bit would draw more attention into the neighborhood, making people want to live here.

Starting this project, my only concern was actually getting to a neighborhood, and discovering my way off campus, and hoping that I didn't end up in a sketchy area. I actually got lost when doing this and my maps weren't working for me, but I eventually found my way back. While walking around I didn't interact with any community members, but I saw that there was a diverse age range. It appeared that younger people were around the apartments, while older people were in the area that had more houses. After exploring this neighborhood, I really don't think its anything to special. I just think it needs to be maintained better.
