The most important thing to know about climate migration is the basics. Climate migration is when humans escape a very hot place to a cooler place. Also, animals like Snow Leopards and Himalayan Monals travel higher up mountains for more cold elevations, just like we do.

The third most important thing to know about climate migration is that it is certainly not the same as being an illegal immigrant. People don't see in climate migration refugees that they HAVE to live elsewhere. It's not like they just WANT to live in a cool dreamland. The same is with animals: they HAVE to move; they don't WANT to move.

When it is the mating time in April to August, Himalayan Monals advertise for a mate with males having fanning tail feathers and a bobbing crest on their head. Male Himalayan Monals have a pallet of colors on their bodies for a reason: To attract mates, and to have a “courtship display.” (Off of google: A “courtship display” is a display that is used to attract a mate and (not appropriate for school). The female Himalayan Monal has a brownish black “plumage” because it is excellent camouflage in the “underbrush”. Females focus on survival unlike males, and that is where camouflage helps. However, with climate change taking over their habitat, Monals may be more focused on survival than breeding.

Himalayan Monals lose their usually bright, tropical, rainbow feathers because of climate change. Their once beautiful coloring turns into duller colors such as brown and black. This is because they have to travel up the mountain where there is less of their preferred diet, and more rocky habitats and air absence.

Himalayan Monals are extremely communicative and are social animals. Himalayan Monals are social animals which are extremely communicative, although they do not live in packs, they are often found in small packs especially in winter or in breeding season. (Large or normal packs are only found in winter with larger flocks which are common in winter.) However, Monals MAY be more used to survival than society now that climate change is taking over their habitat.

We cannot wait four years for people to actually realize climate change is a horrible thing. We have to act now.

Climate migration is driven by many things, one of them is drought. When carbon dioxide leaks into the atmosphere, it cannot escape, so it becomes hotter. When it becomes hotter, water evaporates and there is a drought. OR if a piece of land has abnormally low precipitation which is normally caused by high temperatures. According to https://gpm.nasa.gov, "A drought is a period of unusually persistent dry weather that continues long enough to cause serious problems such as crop damage and/or water supply shortages."

Due to climate change, about 37.4 billion tons of CO2 is released on average every year according to wmo.int. "The level of CO2 in the atmosphere continues to rise – driving increasingly dangerous global warming.” If we stay at this rate we will reach the "global carbon max".
