  • What is your school using ICT for?
    • Is there a school vision for ICT? No the opportunity to collectively decide on this has not arisen. Which supports the 'Looking at our School - 2016' vision that such change/vision should be central to the leadership within the school. 
    • How are projects designed? At the behest of individuals with a personal interest in integrating. Mainly with benefits to both the student and teacher. Stand alone cases
    • Through individual initiatives?
    • Through a more general school policy?
    • Why is ICT not being used in some subjects? Which ones? Not necessarily any one subject but more certain teachers. I'm  sure this is reflective of a fear or anxiety in engaging. personally perhaps their learning may not have progressed from learning about ICT to learning with ICT
    • New pedagogical uses of technology? Learning is messy and no doubt there will be occassion where inclusion may not succeed or be the most appropriate means to achieve learning outcomes. However with correct application the potential for benefit should improve the quality of teaching, learning and assessment
  • How do you give access to technology to your students?
    • Computer lab? Yes in the main, this seems to be the default of the staff of the school
    • Computers in classroom? Yes but with smaller numbers of computers, teachers find difficult to effectively use
    • Individual devices? The school does not have a AUP in place to date and does not endorse BYOD. Students are not permitted their phones outside of break times
    • Is your network capacity sufficient to meet current and future needs? Yes but there is a necessary shift in the mindset of leaders and teachers in the school. This needs to begin with the creation of claer and transparent vision for all partners in the school

  • Ways to improve the performance of your current infrastructure?
    • IPv6 would be a good start to elimate the use of NAT but this all depends on what monies may be available
    • How you could expand the school network?
    Not sure what capacity we have for this in the school
    • Ways to make it more secure? 
    Change the password criteria, advocate AAA
    • New types of devices or services you could put in place?
    GAFE
    • How to provide technical support and ensure the network performs reliably
    This is a little beyond my knowledge base for the time being, working with external IT support/service provider and learning as i go

In what ways is your wifi network the same or different from Hermann’s? How do you ensure your wifi is fast and copes with demand? What products do you recommend, e.g. Access Points?

    We do have WiFi access points in various locations around the school. Not quite as 'spider' like but certainly 2 antenna. The PE hall interesting was not initially equipped in first roll out of locations. The WiFi does currently cope with demands, however students as of yet do not have passphrase to connect. However the reality here is a little off that concept being accepted by our staff. I feel it may take the shape of piloting specific work/projects with certain pupils.     Our schools AUP does not allow for the BYOD
    Do you have wifi?
    Yes, with muliple access points WPA2 AES encryption
    Do you support BYOD?
    Yes but not as a school. Approach principal for one off projects and use of BYOD but students connect to own network and not WiFi
    Do you consider them as opportunities or threats?
    Opportunities but must be aware of he threat of attack and ensure security measures in place
    What technical adaptations would be required, if any?
