1. Foreshadowing
"Not really. I kinda like to imagine she's got a nice job, met a nice man, and is living in a nice, tall condominium building right now, just sorta waiting for the right day to come back and pick up her kids to take us all home"(Sitomer 135).
This is foreshadowing because it hints at what will happen at the end of the book. It is used to hint that McCutcheon and Gemma will be reunited with their mother and she will have a nice job and live in a nice place.
2. Onomatopoeia
"klowner spun with a roundhouse kick, and KABOOM! It sounded like a mortar round had just been detonated inside the gym"(Sitomer 28).
An onomatopoeia is using words whose sound depict the sound actually heard. This is used in the quote because a roundhouse kick makes aloud BOOM noise.
3.Imagery
"Then he grabbed a towel, placed a finger over his right nostril and blew out a stringy, slimy booger from his left"(Sitomer 40).
It is a visual description used in a text. This is shown in the quote because he uses words like slimy and stringy to describe something.
4.Tragedy
"Klowner and Nate-Neck dead? The thought didn't add up. But who? why?"(Sitomer 208).
A tragedy is when a series of unfortunate events takes place one or more characters. The quote is an example of this because two of the people important to McCutcheon are killed.
5.Conflict
"You can't change who you are, son. And that's my mothafucking blood running through your veins. That means you a fighter, got me?"(Sitomer 126).
A conflict that the protagonist faces within the story. I this case McCutcheon faces the problem of his dad making him do things. This a conflict because he wants to go to school instead of fight.

A prominent motif in the book Caged Warrior is family. Throughout the book McCutcheon always puts a big emphasis on his family and what is best for Gemma and himself. You can tell that family is a major factor in his life because throughout the entire book he is working to support his family, whether it be fighting to earn money, or teaching his sister things for school. Family is a recurring idea in the book and is the reason that McCutcheon does what he does in the book. He is trying to make a better life for himself his sister while trying to keep the idea that his family may be reunited with the return of his mother. The idea of family is a major motif within the story.

Survival is also a major recurring idea throughout the book. In the book the thought to survive is a prominent whether it be in the cage, on the streets, or helping out his sister. Throughout the book McCutcheon has to survive through brutal beat downs that he takes while fighting. This idea also pops up when he is searching for his sister after his father takes her and he is hoping that she has survived. This also occurs at the end of the book when his friends are killed the government is worried that he won't survive if he is left unprotected and not in the witness protection program. So the thought of survival is very prominent throughout the novel.

This image connects to the motifs of the story because it shows how to survive as family. In the book this is exactly how McCucheon thinks and acts. He wants to help survive through tough times to help his family. The image shows how a family will survive together. So the image connects because it shows both motifs of the story.

Top ten most important events
1.His mom ran out on the family
2.He started fighting
3.He attended Radiance Academy
4.Gemma was Kidnapped
5.They were reunited with their mom
6.McCutcheon met Kaitlyn
7.He quit fighting to go to school
8.Went into witness protection
9.Ended relationship with his abusive father
10.He told Mr. Freedman everything and trusted him to help

I chose this list to show the most important things in the book. The things on the list are major influences that took place throughout the book and influenced the outcome. All the items impact the book in certain ways and change the outcome of the book. I picked this to show the main points of the book and to give a better understanding of the main points. This should give you a better idea of the key aspects that were transpired in the book.

This picture connects because it shows how everything in life happens for a reason. Just like my list everything that happens is for reason and will influence his life. In this case it does impact his life in major ways. This is shown by the quote in the picture. So it connects because just like the list the picture shows that everything happens for certain reasons.
