In Ben Ratliff's Every Song Ever, Chapter 20 Slowly Fading Out Of Sight: The Perfect Moment, Ben elaborates on how a certain simple note or section of a song transcends past the listeners ears and creates an emotional or complicated connection. Ben Ratliff's definition of The Perfect Moment as, “often wordless, or indirect if it has words. It is the song blushing: an unplanned or perhaps only semiplanned occurrence in which the music suddenly embodies its own meaning.” I believe The perfect moment is an important element across all kinds of music, because every song I have listened to, has a perfect moment that drives my yearn to appreciate and continue to listen to the song.

This element is something that has always pulled me into listening into a song repeatedly and or gave me something to look forward to when listening to a song. The perfect moment is elusive and cannot be forced. However, the relative recognizability of the song is not a factor in creating a perfect moment. When he wanted to express sadness, he sang like a defeated one." As a true jazz fan, I could not help but agree with Frank Sinatra's ability to continuously expel his emotions and feelings for what he is singing into the listeners and have them feel exactly the same. Ratliff explains how on the record Only The Lonely, the repetitive lyric "What'd I'd do" allows listeners to feel his confusion about why he was thrown to the curb by his lover. In this song, Monica sings and explains how she will do everything in her power to make sure her man knows she is there for him. The Perfect Moment in the song is not when she sings " For you I Will", but simple when she's sings " I will cross the ocean for you, I will go and bring you the moon." This is the magical moment to me because I feel it has the most emphasis on how willing she is to do any and everything for this man she so dearly loves.
