Programs like the Wayne County Action Program, which addresses risk behaviors by fostering mentoring, vocational training, and supportive relationships, highlight a lack of deep community attachment among students  . Meanwhile, mentoring services (e.g., Mentor New York partnerships, tutoring programs) show that when opportunities for connection exist, they’re impactful  . The fact that such programs are recognized as key suggests they’re not widespread enough to make a systemic difference yet.
