I organize my work according to a social constructivist model. So for me, collaborative work is at all moments present. I try to include a sense of group responsibility in all tasks. Constantly trying to pass them the idea that each of us is responsible not only for our learning but also for the success of each member of the group.

Regading technology, children have personal iPads, and the school also provides some of this devices. All classrooms are equipped with appleTV. This allows sharing every groups work in a very effective way. It is also a strong tool also for collective writing.

Poor collaborative work
While studying geometric solids (maths) children were asked to work in pairs to find what planifications they could find using specific structured material (plydrons). Many were working individualy with the material and in the end showing the partner what they had come up with. So I think they weren't interacting, or discussing ideias.

Strong collaborative work
Writing histories in pairs. Often children propose to write histories together. Afterwards, they present their work to the class. This has been a very good experience in my classroom. They are starting to develop more skills every day, but are still not very expert at it. In this case i feel they strongly need each other, in orther to build a better text than they would on their own.

Here I will analyse whether the activities I described in Module one.

In the first activity (considered poor ) -
1 - Students were required to work together YES
2 - Some students did work together others were working independently
They DO NOT have shared responsibility
3 - Students were working in pairs
But few decisions had to be made together about the content, or the process, only the final product needed to be the same.

I realized how important it is to prepare the activity and analyse whether it will be, in fact, collaborative work. It is fundamental to give objectiv instructions to the students in such a way that we make sure that the five questions are attended.

In the second activity - writing stories in pairs (7 year old children)

Are they working together? YES
They discuss ideas together, to build a plan for the story, and they need to write them down.
Is this shared responsibility? YES
All children give ideias and are strongly implied in this type of work. They want o build a good story bacause it will be presented to the rest of the class.
Are they making substative decisions? YES
Writing is a task that implies many different skills at the same time since there are many different items to attend to (sentence building, chosing good vacabulary, organizing ideas and connect them, spelling, punctuation marks,...). They strongly need each other.
Is the work interdependent? YES
All the texts they write are present to the rest of the class. Their peers give their opinion about the final product, as well as the process and the way they managed to organize the work together.

Module 4 - Teacher collaboration

I found this module very interesting. Specially the moocs and digital tools that were presented that I did not knew about (epals and others). My students regularly correspond with other students from schools nearby. This is one of the activities they cherish the most. The idea o put them in contact with children from total different cultures seems challenging, even if they are only seven years old. I hope I have “the time” and the self discipline to learn more about these tools.

As for teacher collaboration, I must say that I am privileged to work in a school where all the classroom doors are open. Where we can observe different practices, share ideas for activities, get each other feedback and share resources.

Also I make part of an association that reflects on social constructivist pedagogic models and enhances a vast formation plan for teacher in practice. So, since 2006 I have been participating in cooperative teacher groups where we share ideas, reflect on a big variety of contents, make reading and writing together and obviously prepare presentations to share our ideas.
